Fox Pundits Outraged by Obama’s Mandatory Voting Comments, While Rupert Murdoch Agrees
Since last night, Fox News has covered President Obama‘s comments about mandatory voting with varying degrees of outrage. On Outnumbered earlier, some of the hosts agreed it sounds “authoritarian.” On Neil Cavuto‘s show today, Judge Andrew Napolitano called it a “totalitarian impulse” from the president.
It turns out, however, that Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch actually agrees with the president’s sentiment.
Murdoch is from Australia, where voting is actually mandatory, and he actually doesn’t think the president was wrong to toss it out as an idea:
Agree with POTUS about compulsory voting. Works well in Australia.
But will not necessarily have the effect O expects.

He then acknowledged a point made by no one in particular:
Good point! Compulsory voting seems anti-First Amendment. Australians have option to vote informal, which many do.
