Garry Kasparov: NBC Acting Like ‘Cheerleaders’ for Putin ‘Propaganda’
NBC is in a precarious position covering the Winter Olympics in Sochi, and Russian activist and chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov took to Twitter to lambaste NBC for already acting like state propaganda for Vladimir Putin. So far the NBC coverage has been mixed, with Bob Costas addressing some of the human rights issues and other problems in Russia but also doing a positively glowing profile of Putin, appearing to call him a superior statesman to President Obama.
After some jabs at the International Olympic Committee for deciding to hold the Games in Russia in the first place, Kasparov took on NBC for acting as de facto Putin mouthpieces.

Costas assured ahead of the Olympics that NBC will not avoid talking about Russia’s anti-gay laws, and that he would love to interview Putin one-on-one. As of now, whether that actually happens is up in the air.
