Here’s What the 3 GOP Candidates Not in the Debates Tonight Are Doing Instead

There are exactly three Republican candidates who won’t be in either of tonight’s debates, but lucky for us we know what they’ll be doing instead.

First, Jim Gilmore. Gilmore has been in exactly zero debates thus far, so it was expected that he wouldn’t be in this one either. What’s he doing tonight? Well, not only is he live-tweeting, but he’s––I’m not kidding––reacting like on Periscope thanks to IJ Review:

Next up, Lindsey Graham. He had some fiery moments in past undercard debates, but he’s out tonight. So what’s he doing instead? Well, for one, he appeared on Fox News opposite the debate:

He will also be sharing his live reaction to the debate on a social media service called Sidewire, which has the tagline on its website “Get news and analysis from insiders without the noise.” So if you want to follow Graham’s musings and also find out what the heck Sidewire is, you know what to do.

And finally, George Pataki. He… is still running for president. His debate plans aren’t as exciting as the others’, as he relayed to USA Today‘s Susan Page:

Q: Do you think the debate rules are fair?

Pataki: This should be about letting the people choose as opposed to the media deciding. Early on in the process, it’s name ID, it’s resources. I didn’t have a reality show. My father and brother weren’t president of the United States. I hadn’t run for president before. … These early national polls are more about name ID and fame than about your ability to actually lead the country, so it’s frustrating.

Q: What will you be doing tonight instead?

Pataki: I don’t know if I’m even going to watch it. I’m inclined not to and instead I’ll wait for the highlights.

Oh.
