Hillary, Planned Parenthood Head, and More Shred Trump Over Abortion ‘Punishment’ Remark
It didn’t take long for Donald Trump to get roundly shredded on Twitter over his comments today about “punishments” for abortion.
During the taping of his MSNBC town hall tonight, Trump told Chris Matthews “there has to be some form of punishment” after he bans it.
Hillary Clinton immediately pounced:
Just when you thought it couldn't get worse. Horrific and telling. -H https://t.co/Qi8TutsOw9
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) March 30, 2016
As did Bernie Sanders:
Your Republican frontrunner, ladies and gentlemen. Shameful. https://t.co/y49Z8YfRgV
— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) March 30, 2016
Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards went on a mini-tweetstorm about it:
This from a man who wants to be president of the United States of America, in 2016. And he is dangerously close. https://t.co/JrA54bx8Ho
— Cecile Richards (@CecileRichards) March 30, 2016
.@realDonaldTrump is vocalizing the motivations of every politician who votes to restrict access to abortion. It's about controlling women.
— Cecile Richards (@CecileRichards) March 30, 2016
This is a man who genuinely does not care about the health & safety of women – only about his political ambitions. https://t.co/1X4Ae8K0on

We also have response from one of Trump’s Republican rivals, with the pro-life John Kasich saying that’s a ridiculous position:
.@JohnKasich reacts to Trump's abortion comments: "Of course, women shouldn't be punished" for having an abortion https://t.co/bLyaNPVGoE
— MSNBC (@MSNBC) March 30, 2016
And Ted Cruz‘s rapid response director tweeted this out:
Don't overthink it: Trump doesn't understand the pro-life position because he's not pro-life.
— Brian Phillips (@RealBPhil) March 30, 2016
And that was just the tip of the iceberg:
His existence is our punishment for his mother having him. https://t.co/rMxYwFkQIP

This Trump punishment for women who have abortions is on some Sharia law BS and I really cannot. https://t.co/qQUhXjVdw3

Years – decades! – of the pro-life movement saying it's not looking to punish anyone for abortion, cut out at the knees by Trump.
— T. Becket Adams (@BecketAdams) March 30, 2016
The notion that pro-lifers want to arrest vulnerable women makes it harder to advance pro-life policies politically. https://t.co/4MWk1o7xTZ

There is a punishment. It's called "suddenly having to pay several hundred dollars for an abortion." https://t.co/8bl1BXnXjk

Hillary pounces on Trump's ignorant distortion of pro-life position. He's a wrecking ball against conservatism. https://t.co/W79J1xJqdt
— Guy Benson (@guypbenson) March 30, 2016
Such a compelling, courageous, and coherent pro-life advocate. https://t.co/mvLLFK3MMc
— Matt Walsh (@MattWalshBlog) March 30, 2016
Don't overthink it: Trump doesn't understand the pro-life position because he's not pro-life.
— Brian Phillips (@RealBPhil) March 30, 2016
I'm no doctor, but would a woman being punished under Trump's anti-choice law be able to offer the defense of "He started it"?
— Paul Begala (@PaulBegala) March 30, 2016
Trump really has been upping the misogyny in the last week or so. Not sure how deliberate that is or just a natural product of who he is.

He wants to punish women who have abortions. Are we done with him now? https://t.co/Gj7k1XZ2uc
