‘Dylan, I Know You’re Upset About the Election’: CNN Panel Blows Up Over Trump’s Election ‘Mandate’

With partisan panelists Maria Cardona and Anthony Scaramucci joining anchor Carol Costello and media correspondent Dylan Byers, everyone stayed on topic for a couple of minutes. However, it soon broke down.

After the Hillary Clinton-supporting Cardona talked about how Trump’s tweets are a way to distract us from his conflicts of interests, Trump-defending Scaramucci jumped into the fray.

He noted that the President-elect has the law on his side when it comes to his business interests. The Trump transition team member then claimed that people like Trump because he’s a “dynamic thinker” and then insisted he had a mandate because he won’t 306 electoral votes and 2,600 counties.

Immediately, Cardona exclaimed that “there’s no mandate there,” predictably leading to Scaramucci to say “there certainly is.” After a heated back-and-forth, Costello tried to get Byers back into the conversation, Scaramucci highlighted that he was sure everyone, including the CNN employee, was unhappy with the results.

“Dylan, I know you’re upset — I know you’re upset about the election but let’s have a civil discourse,” he snarked. Afterwards, Cardona shouted “it’s a lie” regarding Scaramucci’s insistence that Trump was being somewhat truthful about millions of people voting illegally, leading to the Trump adviser responding that “it’s very far from a lie.”
