#JanetJacksonAppreciationDay Becomes Major Twitter Trend Ahead of Super Bowl
Justin Timberlake is returning to the Super Bowl halftime show today 14 years after his infamous first appearance with Janet Jackson. You know the one.
Jackson says she will not be appearing at the big game tonight, and there are still a lot of people who feel Jackson got way too much of the backlash compared to Timberlake as a result of that 2004 halftime show and the ensuing outcry/complaints to the FCC.
In addition to hoping that dumb “Prince hologram” idea is really not happening, a lot of people are using the occasion to tweet with the hashtag #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay to, well, celebrate how great Janet Jackson is.
As of this posting, it’s the #2 trend on Twitter:
We should do a #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay this Sunday. pic.twitter.com/ab9fMexgn6

Time for my #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay
All the amazing things she has done (per Billboard). Time to celebrate the ICON!!!1. She released her self-titled debut album Janet Jackson in 1982, at sixteen years old.
2. She performed on American Bandstand and Soul Train in 1982. pic.twitter.com/pkjEU2vnrz

Every single Black person I know is angry about how he slid Janet under the bus and gets to come back and perform while her career was damaged. But I get it. We are "nobody." #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay https://t.co/LbNuXkZvs2
