Kellyanne Conway Refuses to Answer Whether Trump Will Commit to Not Firing Mueller

In a wide-ranging interview this morning on ABC’s This Week that included her pivoting away from questions on the president’s misleading statements and transgender ban tweets, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway also found a way to not directly answer a question about POTUS’s potentially firing Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

With President Donald Trump having said recently that Mueller would cross a “red line” if the special counsel started investigating his and his family’s finances and reports that Mueller is now looking into financial records, host George Stephanopoulos pressed Conway on the subject.

“Bottom line Kellyanne, does the president commit to not firing Robert Mueller?” the host asked.

“The president has not even discussed that,” Conway responded. “The president is not discussing firing Bob Mueller. We are cooperating — he has not even discussed — he has not discussed firing Bob Mueller.”

Stephanopoulos let Conway know that was not what he was asking, but she continued along the same line of saying that this is something that has not been discussed by Trump. This then led to her pivoting to talking about Trump’s popularity with coal miners in West Virginia.

“No one can take away the president’s popularity in West Virginia,” the ABC host said, adding that we’ll see what happens in the Mueller investigation.
