“Have you seen any Russians in West Virginia or Ohio or Pennsylvania?” President Donald Trump said sarcastically to a rally crowd in Huntington, WV. “Are there any Russians here tonight? Any Russians?”
If rallygoers thought the news that special counsel Robert Mueller has reportedly impaneled a Grand Jury in the Russia probe would get Trump down, they needn’t have worried. Thursday night’s event felt just like the many rallies that Trump held prior to his election.
During his address, Trump again dismissed the Russia story — and again called for “prosecutors” to probe his general election rival, Hillary Clinton.
“The Russia story is a total fabrication,” Trump said. “It’s just an excuse for the greatest loss in the history of American politics. That’s all it is. It just makes them feel better when they have nothing else to talk about. What the prosecutors should be looking at are Hillary Clinton’s 33,000 deleted emails.”
The mention of Clinton’s name prompted chants of “Lock her up” from the crowd.
“Most people know there were no Russians in our campaign,” Trump said. “There never were. We didn’t win because of Russia. We won because of you.”
