President Donald Trump announced Wednesday morning that he will be holding a White House press conference to celebrate the passage of the GOP’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which was approved by the House and Senate this week.
Trump spent the day tweeting about the bill, congratulating Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for his work on getting it passed — and bashing the “fake news” media for its coverage of the plan:
I would like to congratulate @SenateMajLdr on having done a fantastic job both strategically & politically on the passing in the Senate of the MASSIVE TAX CUT & Reform Bill. I could have not asked for a better or more talented partner. Our team will go onto many more VICTORIES!

The Tax Cuts are so large and so meaningful, and yet the Fake News is working overtime to follow the lead of their friends, the defeated Dems, and only demean. This is truly a case where the results will speak for themselves, starting very soon. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!

The plan cuts taxes for all income levels — though the wealthy see the biggest benefit, according to a Tax Policy Center analysis, and the middle class will see their cuts expire in 2025 if they are not renewed.
The passage of the bill is Trump’s first major legislative victory in office, and comes in just before the end of year.
