White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold a briefing today to discuss the administration’s latest plans and administrative agenda. The briefing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. EST.
It’s highly likely that Sanders will be asked about White House aide Kelly Sadler and her disparaging remarks about John McCain. Sadler has come under fire over a conversation where she bashed McCain for his opposition to Gina Haspel, saying “It doesn’t matter, he’s dying anyway.” Meghan McCain fired back her father’s critics today on The View, but since her father and Donald Trump have a longstanding dislike of each other, Sanders might be asked whether the president has contributed to the deterioration of political dialogue.
Sanders could also be asked about what John Kelly said about the Russia investigation being an “embarrassment” for Trump. In an interview with NPR, the White House chief of staff offered a lot of praise for his boss, but also confirmed that the special counsel probe is a thorn in Trump’s side. Sanders could be asked about this as well as the questionable remarks Kelly offered about undocumented immigrants being unable to smoothly assimilate into America.
Other topics that might come up include Michael Cohen‘s lobbying work, Trump’s speech last night in Indiana, and the recent developments surrounding Iran and North Korea.
