What One Question Would Stephen Colbert Ask Pope Francis?

 

Have you always wondered what newly-bearded Stephen Colbert would ask Pope Francis if the two ever met? Well, now we know.

In an interview with Catholic magazine America, Colbert — a practicing Roman Catholic — said he really wants to know why the Pope is so darn happy all the time: “What do you do to get that smile on your face in the morning?”

In other words, what does Pope Francis do every morning that makes him so happy? What’s in his “regimen?” What motivates him to get out of bed in the morning?

Asked how he thinks the pope would answer that question, Colbert thinks it probably has something to do with prayer and, of course, “the fact that you’re Pope.”

The interview was wide-ranging, including a part where Colbert divulged his favorite saint, what he’s giving up for Lent, his Confirmation name, his favorite Bible passage, his favorite Catholic hymn, and much more.
