Young Turks Hosts Tear Rush Limbaugh Apart — Even Joke He Murdered Prostitutes — After MO Republicans Approve Holiday

The Young Turks, led by host Cenk Uygur, delivered a scathing critique of the late Rush Limbaugh after Missouri Republicans voted to approve an annual holiday in honor of the deceased radio host.

The GOP-controlled Missouri House of Representatives voted this week to create an annual “Rush Limbaugh Day,” on Jan. 12, which was Limbaugh’s birthday. Limbaugh was born in the state, and died in February of cancer after a lengthy career in radio.

Co0-host Jayar Jackson — also a Missouri native — introduced the story, and read a statement from a Missouri Republican lodging Limbaugh for “speaking boldly” and “inspiring people,” then cracked that Limbaugh had inspired “The downtrodden white racists of the world.”

“I’m looking for the ongoing positive nature of this. We have holidays that honor people, MLK day comes to mind,” Jackson continued. “And the reason we do that is because you want to remind people of the struggles that certain folks in this country went through, and he’s one of the biggest names surrounding it, so it’s attached to his name, he was one of the civil rights leaders that we can harken back to a time when America was made better because we actually progressed and moved forward and allowed human beings in America to be considered human beings in America.”

He went on to say “I’m not sure what we’re going to remember about Rush Limbaugh, or what kind of inspirational things he’s going to tell us as a nation to do later. Maybe it’ll be about how Black people are primitive human beings, maybe it’s about how Black people should shut the eff up and take bones out of their nose, maybe it’s about how women shouldn’t be having sex because they’re just whores.”

Uygur also ran through a section of Limbaugh’s catalog of racist quotes— some of which are in dispute or difficult to verify — including the attack on activist Sandra Fluke that Jackson referenced. and made hay out of Limbaugh’s detention at an airport for possessing Viagra without a prescription.

“Rush Limbaugh went to the Dominican Republican and on the way back he was stopped because he had a bucket full of Viagra with him. And he had gone there with his other guy friends, and they openly talked about how they liked the women down there,” Uygur said, and joked “My guess is they didn’t instantly find organic dates.”

“You want to talk about prostitutes, Rush? It is abundantly clear that you went to go use prostitutes in the Dominican Republicans and that’s why you had a gallon of Viagra with you,” Uygur said.

Co-host Trae Crowder picked up that thread, telling Uygur “I’m not kidding, I’m not doing a bit, this isn’t a joke, if you told me in confidence, if you said I actually have it on very good authority, I know this to be true, that Rush Limbaugh actually never once murdered a prostitute, in secret, I would be like there’s no way that’s true. I wouldn’t believe that. I would be like that’s not, there’s no way that’s true. He had to at least murder a couple of Dominican prostitutes.”

Following his detention, Limbaugh told his listeners “I had a great time in the Dominican Republic. Wish I could tell you about it.”

But conjecture about the purpose of Limbaugh’s visit is just that.

The segment continued for a full 16 minutes, and concluded with the hosts comparing the Limbaugh holiday to the effort to protect symbols of the white supremacist Confederacy.
