Fox’s Brian Kilmeade Warns Trump Will Lose if He ‘Listens to Matt Gaetz and Steve Bannon’
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade warned likely Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump that he would lose the 2024 election to President Joe Biden if he “listens to Matt Gaetz and Steve Bannon” on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning.
After a segment in which a number of migrants expressed their hope that Biden would prevail come this November, Kilmeade’s cohost Lawrence Jones suggested that clips like that would hurt Biden in the election.
Then Kilmeade weighed in:
Well, I think both candidates have to realize this: That if, on the left, if Joe Biden listens to the Squad, he loses. And I think if Donald Trump listens to Matt Gaetz and Steve Bannon, he loses. They have to understand that most of the people are not on the extremes. And if you could understand that, you’re going to win. The first one to understand that and does what they think they should do, and not what the extremists are bullying them to do, is going to be successful.
Gaetz is a diehard Trump-supporting firebrand Florida congressman who ground the House of Representatives to a halt last year by initiating a process to remove former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from his post. At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last week, Gaetz boasted about turning Congress into a “living hell” and convincing many of his Republican colleagues to retire.
Bannon, a conservative media personality who used to head up Breitbart News, once bragged that Breitbart was “the platform for the alt-right.” He worked on Trump’s 2016 campaign and even worked in Trump’s White House for a few months. On his show, Steve Bannon’s War Room, Bannon promotes various conspiracy theories, fumes at Republicans for supporting “demonic” defense bills, and acts as a proxy for Trump in the media.
While Bannon left the White House after less than a year in office and was once disavowed by the former president — who mocked him as “Sloppy Steve” — the two are once again allies. In his own speech at CPAC on Saturday, Trump gave a shoutout to Bannon.
