‘No!’ Democratic Guest Recoils in Disgust After Jake Tapper Asks if Her Party ‘Should Have a New Candidate’

A former Obama administration official was mortified when CNN’s Jake Tapper asked her if the Democratic Party should nominate someone other than President Joe Biden next year.

Nayyera Haq appeared on Monday’s edition of The Lead on CNN, where she discussed the 2024 presidential campaign, which will likely see a rematch between Biden and former President Donald Trump. Several polls show Biden, behind Trump, in several swing states states, even though the ex-president tried to subvert the 2020 election after he lost it.

Much has been made of Biden’s age, 81, even though Trump is 77.

“Let me ask you, just as the Democrat at the table here,” Tapper said to Haq. “I mean, your guy’s losing to him.”

“By voters,” she replied. “And by polls. I’m not sure what more Joe Biden can do to remind people what is at stake. Right? That’s the state of the union thing, soul of democracy, constantly talking about the battle for the soul of the country on the world stage. There is a responsibility for everybody else to also take the challenge just as seriously as the Democratic Party is in the White House right now.”

Tapper then asked if Biden should be replaced.

“I know incumbents in general are not popular right now,” he said. “But do you ever think maybe we should have a new candidate?”

“No!” Haq indignantly shot back. “A new candidate would not have the bully pulpit of the White House. He would not have a corps of reporters covering his every move.”

She went on to hit the media for supposedly ignoring Trump’s “largely incoherent” speeches while fixating on Biden’s gaffes.

Trump is currently under criminal indictment in four jurisdictions, two of which stem from his attempt to overturn the 2020 election.
