Ainsley Earhardt: Shutdown ‘Inconvenient’ But Trump Wants You to Go to Bed Without Fear of ‘Being Killed by an Illegal’
The shutdown may be inconvenient, but President Donald Trump‘s cause is noble, Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt said on Wednesday: he doesn’t want you to go to bed in fear that you might be murdered by an illegal immigrant.
On the Fox News morning show Wednesday, co-host Brian Kilmeade lamented that the shutdown meant many government attractions, including the Smithsonian Museums and the National Zoo, were closed over the holidays.
“It is an inconvenience,” Earhardt said, before turning to Trump’s hardline rhetoric on illegal immigration: “But the president is saying most of the people are good people, but there are some bad apples in the group. And even though it is an inconvenience, he’s saying that your safety, and your security as an American, that you deserve to be able to go to sleep at night and not have to worry about being killed by an illegal immigrant.”
“We’ve seen that happen,” Earhardt added. “And the president is saying I want to prevent other families from going through that loss.”
Fortunately for Earhardt, her fears that illegal immigrants are going to smother her in her sleep are likely unfounded: Studies have shown illegal immigrants are less likely to commit crime than native-born citizens.
