Roger Stone appeared on CNN tonight and Anderson Cooper took some time to grill him step-by-step on whether he ever communicated with Julian Assange.
Stone’s previous denials came under question after an email of him saying he dined with Assange surfaced, but Stone insists that was just a joke and he has evidence to prove there’s no way that it could’ve happened.
He again denied to Cooper tonight that he directly communicated with Assange and pointed to his “back channel intermediary.”
Cooper ran down a long list of questions getting Stone on the record about whether he gave Assange anything––which he denied––and regarding his communications with Guccifer 2.0.
Stone denounced “uncorroborated hearsay” that he knew about the WikiLeaks release of John Podesta‘s emails. Cooper brought up Stone’s infamous tweet about Podesta and they went back and forth as Stone clarified his meaning and insisted that was not about the incoming email dump.
