CNN’s Dana Bash Rebuts Spicer: Warning About Flynn Sounds Like More Than a ‘Heads-Up’
During today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer downplayed the warnings one-time acting Attorney General Sally Yates gave the White House about then National Security Advisor Michael Flynn potentially being compromised by Russia, describing them as merely a “heads-up.”
Following the briefing, CNN correspondent Dana Bash mocked the press secretary over his comments, noting that pointing out a top White House official may be under threat of blackmail by an adversary doesn’t really fit the portrayal of a “heads-up.”
“To me, heads-up is ‘Hey, Mom, put on CNN, I’m going to be on Brooke’s show,’ not ‘Oh my gosh, there’s a matter of national security and your national security advisor could be compromised by the Russians,'” Bash said. “You need to know this. To me, they are very different.”
CNN political analyst Gloria Borger added that Spicer making this observation was similar to saying it’s going to rain this afternoon versus you have a Category 5 hurricane that is aimed directly at your house.”
