CNN’s Joan Walsh Rips Trump for Turning Syria Meeting Into ‘Self-Serving Pity Party’ Over Cohen Raid
CNN political contributor Joan Walsh was not impressed with President Trump‘s explosive reaction to the FBI’s raid on his personal lawyer’s office today.
Trump delivered his first reaction to the Michael Cohen news at the start of a meeting with his national defense team. The discussion was meant to focus on the chemical warfare situation in Syria, but that subject took a backseat when the president unleashed a full-scale tear into the FBI’s “witch hunt” and suggested he might fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
Erin Burnett had Walsh and Rick Santorum give their reactions on her show tonight, and Santorum started things off by saying Cohen’s potential violation of campaign finance laws might not directly impact on Trump. Walsh took issue with Santorum’s answer before saying she was “stunned and kind of saddened” that Trump’s military officials were dragged into his airing of grievances.
“I don’t know how those men… sat there and had to take that at a time when we’re really supposed to be thinking about how do we respond to Syria. It was such a typical Donald Trump, self-serving, pity party move. I just look at this and I think this is a big night and I will agree with the senator on one thing: we don’t really know what they have, but I would say they have a lot.”
