Fox & Friends Stunned Over Severe Weather and ‘Gorilla Hail’: ‘It Kinda Looks Like a Frozen Brain!’
Severe weather swept across the midwest and south on Thursday, with tornadoes causing damage and casualties in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. But it was the hail that got the attention of the Fox & Friends hosts on Friday morning.
A photo sent by Ryan Vaughn, a viewer in Jonesboro, Arkansas, of a massive chunk of hail left all the hosts in awe. But certainly not at a loss for words because co-host Steve Doocy had some interesting ones!
Doocy: And check out this photo from Arkansas as yesterday’s storm brought massive chunks of hail. Look at that.
Ainsley Earhardt: That is hail, or ice?
Doocy: It looks like a whole bunch of–
Brian Kilmeade: They call it gorilla hail!
Doocy: Well, I don’t know if that one–
Earhardt: I’ve heard of gorilla glue?
Doocy: Let’s dial in to [Fox Senior Meteorologist] Janice Dean. Janice, we were talking about gorilla hail two days ago from Kansas. This looks like, it kind of looks like a frozen brain, essentially.
Dean: It’s crazy. Yeah, and, I mean, you have something like that on your car, it could hit you. I mean, the hail could be very dangerous. That is incredible. So thank you to Ryan Vaughn for bringing us that image from Arkansas.
And yes! Gorilla hail is a real weather phenomenon and a real term used by meteorologists. Not a scientific one, but one that caught on and stuck.
