Fox News’ Ed Henry Responds to Criticism From Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: ‘Come on the Show’

Fox News host Ed Henry responded to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Saturday after she criticized a Fox News segment in which he discussed her comments about struggling to afford an apartment in Washington D.C.

America’s Newsroom covered Ocasio-Cortez’s comments on Friday, and Henry noted that Ocasio-Cortez wore expensive clothes during her campaign. The New York Democrat fired back in a tweet, pointing out she didn’t buy those clothes, and accusing the panel of “repeating lies.”

Henry addressed the criticism on Fox & Friends Weekend: “So the congresswoman elect, by the way, was mad that I was on America’s Newsroom and I was talking about the fact that she is now saying she can’t afford an apartment in Washington, D.C. and she thought I was mocking her.”

“Look, I get it,” he said. “I live in Washington. It’s very expensive. You know this, Katie. Members of Congress make $174,000 a year. That’s a lot more than people around the country, many people. And there are 435 Democrats and Republicans in the House who have to maintain two homes. Some of them have four or five kids in Georgia, in California, they have to fly back and forth. It’s not easy to do it they somehow do it. I’m not mocking it and I do believe we have a housing crisis in America.”

Henry then extended an invitation to Ocasio-Cortez: “Come on the show. Let’s talk about that issue. You are a congresswoman now, or are going to be very soon. Come on Fox.”
