Congressman John Lewis spoke with CNN’s David Axelrod for an Axe Files special tonight about the Civil Rights movement and his concerns about President Trump.
“I think the person we have in Washington today is uncaring,” he said, “knows very, very little about the struggle and the history of the Civil Rights movement.”
Axelrod brought up the fact that Lewis has likened Trump to George Wallace and asked him, “What about the President and his actions suggest to you that he is in that tradition, the tradition of a famed, notorious segregationist?”
Lewis cited the voter fraud commission being overseen by Kris Kobach and Vice President Mike Pence, calling it a “form of intimidation” and “harassment.”
He added, “Some of the people that make up this commission, they have a history, a long history, of making it harder and difficult for people to participate in the democratic process.”
