“No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, this is not a good idea,” The Nightly Show’s Larry Wilmore said when he first heard of Pamela Geller’s Muhammad cartoon contest in Garland, Texas that was attacked by jihadists Sunday night.
The host was even more surprised when he learned that the security guard, who was shot in the ankle by the attackers, was unarmed. “You mean to tell me the only people who don’t carry guns in Texas are security guards?” he asked.
Wilmore introduced Geller to his audience as the woman who “wrote the book on Islamic hate,” literally. “When it comes to spouting cray cray, Pamela Geller takes the cake cake,” he said, before playing a montage of her cable news greatest hits from the last couple of day.
“You know another thing that’s horrific, Pamela Geller?” Wilmore asked. “Intentionally putting innocent, unarmed security guards in danger so you can make some bullshit free speech argument.”
“Make no mistake, it is absolutely, unequivocally wrong to shoot people who do things that offend you, but two things can be wrong at the exact same time,” Wilmore concluded. “Even if Pamela Geller’s argument about free speech is valid, she can still be a dick.”
