WATCH: MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle Tears Up While Honoring Fallen Green Berets

In the wake of the ambush on four Green Berets in Niger (and the ensuing controversy after President Donald Trump’s comments), the story is quickly becoming a major wedge issue. Instead of focusing on that and further politicizing the issue, Stephanie Ruhle decided to honor the fallen soldiers who tragically lost their lives on her show today.

One by one, Ruhle took the time to name and tell the stories of the men who lost their lives (Staff Sgt. Bryan Black, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright, and Sgt. La David Johnson.) While doing so, Ruhle understandably started to choke up when recounting their sacrifice and the loss of their families. In particular, Ruhle really started to break down when discussing the experience of Johnson’s wife at her late husband’s funeral.

The segment is a hard-watch, but highly recommended. All over, it was a deeply humanizing segment in the wake of such a politicized tragedy and was a worthy tribute to the men who lost their lives.
