After hours of deliberations today over whether to convict or acquit George Zimmerman, the jury sent a note to Judge Debra Nelson asking for a clarification about their instructions regarding the manslaughter charge.
USA Today reports that under Florida law, convicting Zimmerman for the manslaughter charge would mean they found he “intentionally committed an act or acts that caused the death” and rejected his self-defense claim.
The jury began deliberations on Friday after both sides wrapped their the closing arguments. If Zimmerman gets charged with manslaughter, he could face up to 30 years in prison.
