Andrew Breitbart Dead Of Natural Causes

video

It is with great sadness and grief that I report that Andrew Breitbart has passed away, at the too-young age of 43. According to Big Journalism, “Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.”

From Big Journalism:

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.
We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.
Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

Words completely fail me right now. There will be more to say later, but right now, all I feel is shock and devastation at the loss of a friend, and a man who was loved by many people whom I consider friends. My heart goes out to them now, and in the days ahead.

Andrew had a great many detractors, many of whom I also consider friends, and although he reveled in their hatred, I hope every decent person can respect the grief of his friends, and their own humanity, enough to grant silence.

For some reason I could care less? Wonder why???

    KARMA BITCH!

  • Anonymous

There is nothing natural about dying at the young age of 43. Tragic, but not natural.

  • Anonymous

It will be very interesting to see the autopsy report. Although I despise this man politically, he has children.

  • Cecelia

Oh, how awful!  How very sad!

  • Anonymous

Very sad indeed. He was a family man.

Huge story.   RIP from a massive Obama partisan.

He’s screaming incoherently at angels now.

    That was a shock .. that’s all i have to say …

  • Centrist79

I never agreed with Breitbart on almost anything he said or some of his actions, but he was a husband, father, and family man who died to soon. R.I.P

  • Keane

    Disgusting.

  • Oh, Baby!

I struggle to think of a reason as to why I should be sorry over his loss.

    Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Hard to believe.  So sad I feel for his family what a trjic loss

  • Anonymous

Shocking!  My thoughts and prayers are for his family

He was NOT a good man. And we can still be respectful while acknowledging that fact. Let’s hope he found some redemption (ala Lee Atwater) prior to his passing.

I’m glad that some libs here can show some class.

I guess we’ll never see those videos from Obama’s college days.

Mediaite should do something about the lack of respect for the dead here. Still, this comes as a shock.

  • Anonymous

Then why did you read this article?

  • Anonymous

    Yes,he was.Breibart that is.

  • Hugo Daun

I suppose aspiration of one’s own vomit after a drunken binge could be considered “natural causes” in Breitbart’s case.

Condolences to his family and loved ones…

  • Anonymous

Perhaps of note here: Fox has gone full out wall to wall coverage of this. As of my typing this, MSNBC and CNN still doing their regular shows.

  • Oh, Baby!

Yes, we know Andrew was disgusting.

    Thanks.

  • Anonymous

I too may not have agreed with him on much, but this is a true loss especially to all of his family and friends.  RIP

  • Pablo

You might want to brush up on the term “natural causes”.

RIP Andrew. Thank you for showing the way.

I didn’t agree with the dude, but man 43 is way too young

  • Anonymous

My condolence to his family and friends.

  • Anonymous

     What are you insinuating???

  • Anonymous

So when someone in your family dies, you will understand my complete and utter joy.

  • Anonymous

While I wasn’t a fan of him by any means, it’s still tragic to see anyone die at such a young age. R.I.P Andrew Breitbart, my condolences to his friends and loved ones.

  • Just Another Blowhard

How sad.  My condolences to his family and friends.

  • Anonymous

The guy was a puke.  His dying doesn’t change that.

  • Anonymous

The reason for all the vitriol above — the man was a true iconoclast. He stood for a belief and he excelled as a result. Even if you disagreed with him (or hated him, as some express) this is a loss for many.

  • Anonymous

For all the people who have already, and I’m sure soon will, come on here and say they could care less, or this is karma… STFU!!! Have some respect, and remember that you and your political point of view will be used to generalize a large group of people. So respect the people who think differently than you, and respect the people who share your point of view. He was a father, a husband, and a friend to a lot of people. Show the man some respect on the day of his death

  • http://twitter.com/JCP1975 JCP1975

He was known to abuse cocaine and alcohol. I doubt his death was from natural causes, but more  along the lines of how Whitney Houston went out.

  • http://punditpawn.wordpress.com PunditPawn

Here’s hoping the Obama tapes he was going to release before the election are still accessible.

  • Jonathan Cantor

I can’t say I always agreed with him. But RIP, and please hold off on the speculation. Let his family grieve.

  • Hugo Daun

Yes…false expressions of respect would be much better than the truth.

  • http://gregingleright.weebly.com/ Greg

Chuck Todd introduced the fact well after Drudge and Politico had the story published. Not sure why, but even the slightest info gap has begun to bother me. To think I used to wait for my grandparents TV to warm up before having access to VHF and to a lesser extent UHF.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, talk about a conspiracy theory. Andrew has damaged the Obama agenda pretty heavily.

  • Oh, Baby!

I don’t care if my comments will be used to generalize liberals.  I can’t think of ANY liberal who respected Andrew’s dirty, nasty, vindictive ways.  He did nothing in his life which was worthy of respect, and instead created further divide between the left and the right.

We, as a nation, will be better off without people like him.

  • Anonymous

Conspiracy? He held videos of Obama’s college days and now he is dead.

  • Cecelia

Tommy, I’d give you a hug, if I could.  I certainly need one.

  • Anonymous

I found this guy utterly despicable in his life, but I hope that he passed away peacefully and my thoughts go out to his family and friends. RIP

  • Nicholas

Condolences. But, I cannot help but wonder that all his anger could not have been healthy.

  • Anonymous

R.I.P. All politics aside, I’ve always had a huge respect for people who throw themselves into the things they love and believe in with everything they have.

  • Anonymous

I doubt there are any angels within hearing distance of where he’s hanging right now.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_A74EJCCN62MXTMGTRP6KE4RCWM plls

    What illness did he have?

  • Anonymous

Very sad news.  Fox’s Greg Guttfeld was just mentioning he was always teasing him about taking care of his health.  Whatever his problems, I’m very sorry for his family.  Andrew was one of those few who whether you agreed with his politics or not he got everyone talking about issues they otherwise wouldn’t have.  He purposefully went after stories the major news outlets didn’t have the nerve to cover.  He was fearless, tireless, provocative, and will be greatly missed.  RIP Andrew.

Well obviously you didn’t read Christopher’s comments.  There are DECENT liberals out there, full of true compassion for their fellow man and women.  Unlike you, they have the ability to show respect for individuals they don’t agree with.  This is the problem with the modern day liberal, if you do not fall in line, lockstep with their beliefs, you are immediately cast aside like road kill and mocked at every turn.

You modern libs – keepin’ it real and keepin’ it classy.

You all ought to be ashamed of yourselves!

HE created a divide? I’m sure he really cared about being “respected” by liberals like you. Breitbart spoke and lived what he believed. No one cares whether or not you agree.
You are right, you are a typical lib….no class!

  • Anonymous

Agreed. I will remember their kindness.

  • Anonymous

He filled in for Dennis Miller last week on the DMZ show and did a nice job, very funny and had some nice points.  From following him for a bit Breitbart was more of a non-political guy that sort of had his fill of what he perceived as injustices and went off.  He often said he didn’t like the D or R side of politics.

He was successful and had fun doing what he loved.  IMHO he even was jovial (more a merry prankster type) even when he was in full confrontation mode.  Pity we all can’t be more like him in that respect.

RIP Andrew, I am going to miss his style and humor.

  • ClarkFL

Your whole comment just reminded me why I could never become liberal. I care about other people too much, even those I disagree with politically. Your hate sickens me.

Breitbart had a mission in his later years. It was to essentially disprove the idea that “liberal” = “tolerant.” His theory was that, if anything, being liberal made you even more susceptible to being intolerant in a multitude of ways. He was right, about all of it. I deleted his twitter feed months ago because I couldn’t take the constant re-tweeting of his nutjob lefty haters. But today, I miss him.

  • Anonymous

Very sad.  Completely shocked. His wit, energy and sheer goofiness on his Red Eye appearances was a sheer joy.  Incisive wit, fearless energy and joy of life.   God bless him, his family and friends.

The fact that Dick Cheney, a man responsible for so many deaths in the name of greed, is still alive with a barely palpable heart beat is proof that there is a devil. The fact that Breitbart, a man responsible for the indignation of a man who stood up for the poor, and a also a man responsible for screwing over the poor has died is proof that there is such a thing as karma. Trust me husband or father, it doesn’t matter. The fact that there is one less person in this world spreading hatred and promoting the indignation of the poor makes this world a much more better place.

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

I’ve said something similar elsewhere and now I’m going to say it here…

Over the years, I have occasionally poked and criticized him via this and other blogs, but though I didn’t agree with him politically and I’d often caution about the role of “journalism” and how it should be separated from political action, I have admired what he built and offer my deepest condolences to everyone concerned.

  • Anonymous

Was Andrew a relative of yours?

  • Centrist79

I find the level of some of the comments here disgusting, a man has died, and whether you agreed with him or not, lets recognize that a human life was lost.  I am a left leaning independent and am calling out all people who chose to make vile comments to stop. If you having nothing good to say, please say nothing at all.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VYUK3HIJFCPFBZUHRHN6HCR5AA MarkfromSavannah

You’re a real piece of shit too.

How can one hate with such intensity?

  • Anonymous

    Yeah, so did Hitler.

Look, Andrew was a very cruel and dishonest man.

He ruined innocent lives, destroyed facilities for the poor, and slandered innocent people with trumped up charges… all for what, some bs right-wing political narrative?

    Nothing will change that.

What is sad is that he died before Shirley Sherrod and JC Vera got justice for themselves.

Like it or not, Andrew had a lot of hatred in him.

The Tea PArtiers should take a lesson, all that anger which they make a daily practice of fomenting WILL cause a heart attack.

I dont revel in this evil mans death.  But political admiration does NOT change the fact that he was a cruel, uncivilized, ugly human being.

In his life review, he wont have the luxury of adoring fans and political sugar-daddies.   He will see what he did to innocent people for what it really was… just heartless and cruel.

The way to make you people show yourselves for who you are. You can judge a man by his enemies, and Breitbart was an excellent example of that.

  • Anonymous

No, Andrew was just his political master… one that told him what to think and how see through politically distorted eyes.

And I agree, good riddance to a man who lied, maliciously slandered and ruined innocent lives.

May he see all the poor families he kicked to the curb, and all the damage he did to innocent people.

From what people who have died and returned say, one always has a life review at death.  Not a judgement, just a review.

The thing is, in that review, one doesnt have the luxury of ones own bias.

Breitbart would have to look at what he did to so many innocent people, without the luxury of apolitical  filter that justified his ugly behavior.

TC – I imagine this hits you a little too close to home, especially after your public heart attack. You were very lucky. Sadly, AB wasn’t as lucky. I am sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Andrew, but feel as if I did. Just a devastating loss to his family, his cause, and to his friends, and even to his followers.

    RIP Andrew Breitbart.
    We will continue the fight.

There should definitley be an intensive investigation into what caused his death…..Could Chicago thuggery politics be involved? Would not surprise me a bit….did he have something on Obama that was toxic? Again…would not surprise me!!

Andrew was an alchoholic who made a daily practice of getting angry for a political agenda.

It was the venom in his heart that killed him.

Great post.  Breitbart loved getting irrational hatred from unhinged folks on the left,  so I think he’d laugh at it, really.

Breitbart was a warrior for truth in the media, especially when the tea party was incredibly peaceful and inclusive, but savagely attacked by the media, fearing the message of smaller government.  Someone will pick up his work and his sites, but the man’s is an original and will be missed by many.

Despite his apparent lesser-than-noble attributes, he was no Hitler, and his death deserves some decorum. If you think his critical comments following the death of Ted Kennedy were reprehensible, then don’t sink to the same level.

Personally, I never thought much of him, but this is no time to be reveling in his passing, if only for his family. Unfortunately, politics has become so polarizing that people have forgotten what it means to take the high road.

It’s difficult to have any sympathy for someone who would tweet to the world that Ted Kennedy was “…a special pile of human excrement” and “a big ass motherf@#$er,” after Kennedy passed away.  Treat others as one would like others to treat oneself.

  • Anonymous

as posted on activitypit.com via the big sites, I believe.  Perfect said, in Andrew’s own words…
Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.
Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us.

  • Anonymous

Right, because Breitbart was a liberal, if you google what he said right after Kennedy died, nothing on this site or perhaps any other liberal site would come close to the kind of hurtful things he said.

  • Anonymous

So when did Breitbart ever act “civil”?

Was it when he was orchestrating lies against innocent people who service the poor and service people with special needs?

Was it when he deliberately lied about Shirely Sherrod, and tried to disenfranchise poor black farmers?

Was it when he called Kevin Jennings a pedophile? Was it when he faslely accused JC Vera of being a child trafficker?

I wont dance on his grave, but Breitbart was a very cruel man.

Nothing changes the serious  damage he did to the innocent and the poor.

CNN is unlikely to do wall to wall for anyones death unless it is some sort of World Leader or mega superstar. Even the journalist whose last report was with them before she was killed in Syria wasn’t wall to wall coverage. Just the way they play these things and to be honest I kind of agree with it (absolutely nothing against Breitbart meant by that).
As for MSNBC let’s face it, they are slow with pretty much every major breaking story. And if this happened on Saturday you would’t hear about it until Monday

Saddened for his family. I will be more saddened for this country if his next round of videos, that were announced just two weeks ago, never see the light of day. And you can safely assume that if they do not see the light of day, that “natural causes” was a charitable term indeed.

Well that says more about Fox News.  I mean it is a news story but, wall to wall coverage?  Are they now going to make him into a martyr?  I mean the guy had a lot of demons which explained his faults and methods.

  • Robert Shlumboski

I’d say Andrew, is among the lucky, who no longer have to drink from the poisonous well we call civilization.  How amusing, Grimbo the Reapo has such a sobering effect on the good, bad, ugly and clueless. Just can’t seem to shake that fear of death walking in our midst, and it almost seems as if some try to pacify it with considerate sentiments on the one hand, and scorn it with contempt on the other.  Be comforted, death is truly the only equalizer, and perhaps the only real truth about our existence.  Enjoy your eternal slumber, Andy.

  • Anonymous

I will state the obvious to get it out of the way.

Mr. Breitbart and I probably would disagree at least half the time, minimum, on political issues. He at times appeared to be more concerned with twisting the facts to suit his theories, rather then the other way around.

That aside, I am saddened and a little more then stunned at the news that someone who hasn’t even hit the age of 50 died “of natural causes”

It is important to remember that a wife lost her husband and children lost a father. My sympathies to all his friends and loved ones.

R.I.P Breitbart… I didn’t care for his politics or his methods.  He had his demons and I hope his soul his at peace now.  My condolences to his family.

  • Anonymous

I disagree.  Breitbart chose not to shy away from the haters, instead to encourage them to express their hatred of him so he could shine a light on that hatred (that is there whether directed at him or not).  Since the overall media protects those on the left filled with hatred we are inundated with their bitching day in and day out, but Breitbart showed them for what they are.  He chose that professional life, it doesn’t mean Mediaite has to tolerate hate.  That is their choice to make.

By the way, I’ve no idea why those on the right who are filled with hate (and we all believe they exist) don’t seem to have a voice.  I’m sure they are out there somewhere, but at least the sites I visit (and I’m a conservative) rarely seems to include hate filled comments from them.

The past couple months there’s been an influx of extreme language and hatred prevalent on Mediaite, always seemingly from the left, but at least in one case I backtracked a particularly hateful commenter and found them to be a Ron Paul supporter, so perhaps at least in that case many of the new and ghost accounts on Mediaite are from young people.  Whatever the ideology, I hope people can have respectful disagreements and honor each other’s right to an opinion, and for this article, to honor the family of a 43yr old crusader even if you choose not to honor the life lost.

  • Anonymous

Exactly. Why come here to voice your opinion just to have it deleted by someone who feels it wasn’t expressed in a way they would prefer.

While I see lots of left wing hate on twitter. It is nice to see some on the left being respectful. No matter how much we disagree and are passionate about what we believe and what “side’ we are on. We must understand that most of it isn’t even personal. It’s just our beliefs are different. The funny thing is.. a lot of us on different sides of the isle have so much in common in our personal lives and its sad we sometimes lose sight of that. No matter how much I may dislike  Media Matters ,Daily Kos or other left wing groups.. I certainly don’t wish or celebrate death on anyone from that side. Emergency crews tried to revive him and rushed him to the emergency room at UCLA Medical Center, Bean said.

I’ve actually seen quite a bit of nice commentary from the left.  Media matters was cordial, as was HuffPo.  Even the tweets from the liberal talkers have been kind.  That’s what matters. Everyday Joes like you and are more likely to be the ones to be ugly.

Deplorable behavior is a trait spread evenly on the left and the right.
An individual on the left or on the right may disagree completely
simply because they want so badly to be assured that their “side” is the
better one, but the fact is, both sides play the same game. It’s just
that sometimes, one side plays better than the other.

I’m sorry to see so many comments had to be removed and that they received so many likes.  As much as I disagreed with him about everything, I don’t take joy in anyone’s passing and wish for God’s comfort to his family.

Both second rate stories. Wiener tripped himslef up over the way he handled the matter and Acorn is all about voter suppression. Voter fraud is miniscule yet the bad  guys simply want to find ways of stopping people from voting. That whole agenda is sick to the core, and as dangeous as allowing money to drive democracy. It is all about disenfranchising the 99%.

But bad guys have families – so since there is nothing positive to say, it is best to remain silent on this human being whilst his family grieve.
