Jerry Brown Defends Himself Against Meg Whitman, By Trashing Bill Clinton

Things are getting so heated in the California gubernatorial contest between Democratic candidate (and former Governor) Jerry Brown and the Republican candidate (and former eBay CEO) Meg Whitman, that former presidents are getting strafed by mud being slung by their own party! While defending his tax policy in a Whitman-funded campaign ad that depicted then Presidential candidate Bill Clinton criticizing his tax policies as Governor of California, Mr. Brown took a shot at the former President.

Sound confusing? Well watch the video below, which opens with the Whitman campaign ad, and is then followed by an amateur video clip shot at a recent Jerry Brown rally. In the world of sports, this sort of infighting is usually a good indication of a team about to lose.

Jerry’s not the devil, any more. But this is the time and we have the need for BOTH Meg Whitman & Carly Fiorena.

It’s nice to see Bill Clinton (YES, the Monica-stain Bill Clinton) thoroughly chew up moonbeam brown and then spit him out with total disgust. Look closely at the expression on moonbeam’s face – he looks like he’s totally stoned and has no clue he’s being shredded into confetti by Clinton. It’s fantastic!

Is California beyond redemption and fixing? BTW Brown is right, his record speaks for itself….which caused a good chunk of the fiscal issues Cali is dealing with. I don’t know how Californians think or see the world, but delving into Brown’s past, he seemed a little….irrational and with zero foresight. He’s hung around in public office since no longer being Governor. He seems like a parasite to me. Now he wants back in so he can work with the most hapless state legislature in the country.

it begins with state reps, so whoever is Gov will be fought just like Arnold has. Just glad they don’t export that incompetence.

Jerry Brown is just another life long politician of the ilk that has that state and this nation, as a whole so thoroughly messed up. Every one of California’s and the nations problems can all be traced back to career politicians buying constituencies with bribes to keep themselves in power.
When are we, as a people ever going to learn to quit sending these people back to pack us in the arse, year after year, decade after decade.

Brown had the job for 8 years and so did his father . 38 million people in the state and Jerry Brown is the best candidate for one party ? … Really ?… Or maybe the job is so impossible that not many want it . These politicians that don’t leave office should be voted out . Dingell has been a congressman since 1955 and his father had the same seat for over 20 years before that . Nuts to that .

  • ChuckfromTacoma

But jk76, they do export that incompetence. Over the last thirty years, so many Californians have moved up here to get away from the crap there, yet they keep voting in the same kind of boobs here they voted for there. An example or two would be Patty Murray and Jim McDermott. Neither of whom will ever get a grasp on the concept that tax money is not limitless.

I agree with you. Bill made Jerry look foolish.

But Bill Clinton was one of the most OVERRATED presidents of recent memory. That statement doesn’t even include his pathetic personal life. Consider the situation:
When Clinton took office, he was given the following gifts:

    (1) A modest recession has already finished and the economy was poised to take off.
    (2) That thing called the ‘internet’ was taking hold. MILLIONS of jobs were created without his help.
    (3) The Republicans took control of Congress & enforced fiscal discipline.

With those three things in his favor, Homer Simpson could have been a good president!!

I’ve lost count of how many Democrats have decided to run against Obama in this election. But this kind of pattern is typical of Jerry Brown. After Proposition 11 passed during his first term as governor, back in the 1970s, he did a complete flip-flop in order to embrace the populist anti-tax, anti-government movement. However, when he got re-elected Brown soon forgot all the populist stuff he had said on the campaign stump, and did lots of damage to the California economy. Expect the same this time around. These comments are no indication of what Jerry Brown would do as governor, but they do reflect his savvy understanding that Obama is seen by voters as incompetent ideologically-driven.

Brilliant ad that stirred up an immense amount of trouble while keeping Whitman’s hands clean of the charge of negative campaigning.

It doesn’t get any better than that.

Actually, Clinton was lying and Whittman has been informed but, refuses to pull the ad. Just one more reason why this spinster will get her ass kicked. In case you can’t access the link, here’s what it says:

    LA Angeles Time

“Clinton claim in Whitman ad is false, state says
The California Department of Finance says overall state taxes went down when Brown was governor, not up. Whitman campaign says it won’t halt the ad featuring video of the former”

  • roxsteady

How long do you think it will take Brown to put up an ad of his own featuring the info above? Ha!

  • roxsteady

Stop trying to rewrite history on Clinton’s presidency. He left a surplus and Bush and the GOP squandered. Meanwhile your folk hero Ronnie Raygun trippled the deficit! Those are facts!

Jerry Brown is like an old former NFL or NBA coach that gets brought back beacuse he knows the mechanics of running a government and making unpopular choices that will piss everybody off but is required to bring a huge state back to fiscal sanity. That will mean cutting entilements and raising taxes.Meg Whitman never has had to fight with both free spending liberals and no taxes no services conservatives. And you gotta bring both together in a compromise.Brown is to old and too cranky to give a shit if he makes enemies on either side.GO JERRY GO!

Whitman’s campaign goes negative without being negative. Her campaign is using the Clinton/Brown feud (since 1992) to her advantage. Jerry Brown was the first politician to bring up Whitewater. Clinton endorsed Newsom for governor’s race before he dropped out of the race.

On point Steve, and there is also one additional one. It was under Clinton that the “free homes for poor people” programs began with Fannie and Freddie leading the way. This pumped up home sales, and led to record home ownership numbers that were of course built on a house of cards. Combine that with everything else you mention, and Homer might have been the best President of all time in the 1990′s – because he wasn’t slick enough to get all the side action that Clinton was getting.

Finally, Governor Moonbeam Brown says something worth hearing!
