Report: Oprah Offers Sarah Ferguson Her Own TV Show

This is being reported by the UK’s Daily Mail so perhaps take it with a grain of salt. The paper is reporting that Oprah Winfrey has offered Sarah Ferguson her own talk show on her new cable channel, the Oprah Winfrey Network.

A source close to Sarah Ferguson said last night: ‘Oprah made the call this week. They spoke in person and, for Sarah, the offer is a ray of light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

‘Oprah has known Sarah for some time and the Duchess went on Oprah’s show to explain herself after her most recent scandal. Oprah has always been impressed by Sarah’s ability to pick herself up and reinvent herself.

Reasons why I think this might be true. It was clear during the interview that Fergie did with Oprah back in June, after the former Princess was caught on tape trying to sell access to her husband, that Winfrey was quite sympathetic to Ferguson (not to mention shocked by her financial situation). Moreover Fergie’s personal revelations and self recriminations, as revealed on the show, very much jibes with Oprah’s life view.

Reason’s why I think this might not be true. Does anyone want to watch a show hosted by Fergie? I don’t know the answer to that, but Oprah’s a savvy businesswoman, I don’t see her investing foolishly regardless of how sympathetic she is towards Fergie’s life story.

Didn’t Sarah have a show or did it never proceed out of negotiations?

Otherwise as I commented to the two prior posts under the “Sarah Ferguson” tag, though it wasn’t pretty, what she did wasn’t illegal and buying access from connected individuals is actually a pretty common practice in American business.
