Senate Candidate Jim Bender’s New Ad Features Uncle Sam Eating Checks

Campaign ads (especially the bad ones) are the highlight of every campaign season. And today, New Hampshire’s Republican candidate for Senate Jim Bender has released one for the annals of awful campaign videos. The ad features Uncle Sam gorging himself on various cakes shaped like banks, ambulances, personal checks, and college diplomas. Supposedly it’s meant to represent the federal government “feasting” on everything from businesses to kids’ college loan programs. Whatever it is, it’s brilliantly awful. It doesn’t quite beat Demon Sheep, but it’s definitely up there.

    (via TPM)

I’m still waiting for Mediaite to just come out of the closet and admit it wants to be a full-blown left-wing site. It’s not that TPM is a source (although, that contributes to it), it’s that they’re willing to take such a goofy argument/complaint/hey-look-at-this from an advocacy site like TPM, and pretend it’s “news.” Is this what it’s come to? Manufactured stories?

    Ugh.

Great ad! That’s perfect imagery for what the Democratic Progressives in DC are doing.

The liberal response: SMEAR – SMEAR – SMEAR!

    “Manufactured stories? ”

    “SMEAR – SMEAR – SMEAR!”

This is a right-winger’s campaign ad. It was “manufactured” by him, FOR him. Are you so deluded that you can’t grasp this simple fact?

Where is the so-called “smear” – or is that what you say when you have nothing to say?

You two characters are a case study in “degrees of paranoia”; one, mild, the other . . . not.

“perfect imagery for what the Democratic Progressives in DC are doing.”

Does that mean you refuse to accept Medicare, Social Security, police/fire protection, free roads, clean water/air, student loans . . . and dozens of other services?

Some of you Tea Partiers should hide in the kettle.

The manufactured stories… the fact that this is simply a campaign ad… nothing more, nothing less. It’s not a big deal, and it’s not outrageous and ludacris.

However, to satisfy the leftwing contingent of this site, and lend credence to leftwing sources (like TPM), they have to manufacture these stories, and present them in a way that is unfair and unrealistic. If you were to deconstruct any advertisement on television, you’d get the same response. Does beer really make the picnic colder? Does McDonalds really make people want to dance? Do extra credit card points make me buy more stuff?

Come on. It’s just a way to mock the political opposition in a way that is hypocritical (they don’t do it for the left) and irrelevant.

Sorry. I know you’re always pushing an anti-right line, which is why you like stories like this (the content isn’t important, it’s the underlying “they’re dumb” you support). But I’m not buying it.
