Alan Grayson Wonders Aloud If Dick Cheney Is Collaborating With Satan

Senator Alan Grayson continued to play the part last night while guesting on The Ed Show. What part, you ask? Well, for fans of his on the left, he’s a hero for calling out conservative leadership (in particularly Vice President Dick Cheney.) For his detractors on the right, he’s a villain for coarsening the discussion and over-the-top rhertoric — like wondering aloud if Satan himself is writing the introduction to Cheney’s coming memoir.

What did Grayson say? “You know, honestly I think he’s just trying to prime his book tour, his upcoming book tour. He got $2 million to write about his memories, and he’s trying to stay in the public eye in order to push sales for his book. That’s what I think.” Grayson continued, “I’m wondering, though, who’s doing the introduction to his book? Is it Mephistopheles? I don’t know — maybe it’s Satan.” (h/t TPM LIve)

While he may prove to be entertaining, Grayson’s hyperbolic commentary is exactly the sort of dialogue that the left used to call out as offensive. Do as I say, but not as I do?

Representative Grayson is the perfect example of a person with a good heart, a person who is right on 95% of all policy matters, but still a real annoyance. MSNBC needs to scale back on him.

MSNBC needs to scale back on him.

Being annoyance and a buffoon, as Grayson continually is, is no reason for MSNBC to dial it back. First off, his rhetoric matches many of their hosts, thusly allowing them to push the envelope a little further. And secondly, his antics help get people watching that network, and (especially with Ed) they need all the help they can get.

I’ll bet after Grayson loses his seat, MSNBC brings him on as a host (or at least a fill-in host), or “frequent commentator.

If Alan Grayson was a physically attractive female Republican, the MSNBC crowd would regularly describe her as a clear and present danger to the Republic. The fact that he reliably spouts the talking points of the MoveOn wing of the Democratic Party and looks like he comes from hearty Cro-Magnon stock apparently makes him an utterly necessary member of said Republic.

    Grayson ROCKS!
