Report: Rep. Michele Bachmann’s Son Invited To Pose For Playgirl

Lucas Bachmann, the aesthetically pleasing son of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, was recently invited to pose for Playgirl magazine (which, in the interest of disclosure, I interned for in college), continuing in the magazine’s recent (but illustrious!) history of asking young men somehow connected to headline-making Republican women to pose nude within its pages. You will recall, of course, that Levi Johnston – father of Bristol Palin‘s child – once dropped trou for the publication.

Twenty-eight-year-old Lucas declined the offer, at least partially due to the fact that he’s currently focusing on his psychiatry residency at the University of Connecticut:

As you can certainly understand, one must have a certain degree of anonymity when treating patients in the mental health community.

A quick look through his Facebook page (we’d link to it, but we’re pretty sure that’d immediately inspire him to make it completely private), reveals a man whose interests include India, William F. Buckley, and C.S. Lewis who is currently “trying to figure out my life after two years of being on pause!”

Easy money says that somehow all the male liberals that badmouth Michele will want a peek at this!

    Right DemoKKKrupts?

  • WCinWI

Why does Alex feel the need to mention Palin in a sexual related article? Seriously – spotty reporting on what amounts to probably an insider’s tip.

    You are bizarre.

Michele Bachmann’s son posing for playgirl would have no effect on my opinion on Michele Bachmann. He’s a good looking dude, I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be a big deal if he changed his mind and went through with it.

Scott Brown being a former magazine model was beneficial to his election campaign, in my opinion.

Some people actually takes these boards seriously; for instance, the fact that you use KKK as a “joke” is rather disturbing.

I’d be remiss to write an article about Playgirl asking a politician’s son to pose for them without mentioning that this isn’t the first time they’ve done something like this.

Lighten up dude. All he was implying is that all liberal guys are gay and would buy the magazine or already subscribe . Nothing at all to do with His mom I promise.

It’s in the article – they asked Levi Johnston because of the notoriety he gained from dating / having a child with Bristol.

i know its picky, but stick to facts then

@cjd ohio 1: You’re just being difficult. “Playgirl” got loads of publicity in the run-up to the Levi Johnston shoot because he was playing the fifteen minutes from his Palin connection. What made it an absolute win for the magazine/website was the fact that the Johnston pics were anticlimactically disappointing.

@Alex: I thought one of the Nardicio quotes was good for a giggle and perhap, the blogger’s informal style in quoting him worth note.

The Playgirl rep knew the odds were long. He told me that his staff scoffed when he mentioned the largely unknown Lucas as a potential cover boy, arguing that he would be impossible to get. Then he reminded them that he got Levi Johnston, Palin’s almost-son-in-law.

“Lucas is principled, which is also really compelling for our readers,” Daniel said.

wondered how long before the left start digging for dirt. While you’re digging, could you please find Obama’s marks, transcripts, anything??? please!!!!

@cjd ohio 1: Tyco blocks are like Lego blocks, but they’re not the same.

Playgirl was obviously brainstorming publicity stunts. If you can recall, both Playboy and Hustler have made some high-profile “offers” over the years, primarily for publicity because even if the target refused, friendly media outlets would put the story into the air and then the gossip columns would pick it up.

The PopEater article mentions Playgirl’s success with Johnston as a precedent for asking Bachmann. The Bachmann fellow, whom I had never heard of prior to this post, refused. The story was apparently shopped to Aol, Alex aggregated it to Mediaite and in the process she was able to use several SEO-friendly terms, post a cute picture introducing an unknown to her audience and surf the doctoir’s Facebook on work time.

    What’s not to understand?

Otherwise because I’m back in this thread and this is just a fun post featuring pop culture news, I thought that I’d add a link to the (offtopic) “Michele Bachmann ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet’ by Toots Sweet” YouTube because though I don’t agree with his apparent support, it’s a pretty good song.

  • ohwell

Yeah I’m sure us woman are absolutely dying to see a pasty, skinny white boy poste in Playgirl. As if.

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

Whoops: I meant to give credit, where it’s due. The “Toots Sweet” was via Gawker.tv.

And all I said to that was “You are bizarre.” The rest of it was in response to the article.

Also: I must have missed the memo requiring all Liberals to be homosexual.

It’s unfortunate your parents weren’t able to buy you a brain with that Masters.

So then why was Bristol mentioned at all? Do you not get the hypocrisy in a post that is talking about someone that has nothing to do with the Palin family? I generally like to give you the benefit of the doubt, but as a fellow female, I’m ashamed that you would impugn someone else and would feel the need to write about something sexual in general. Working for Playgirl? Wow. And that’s not a good wow either. :)

That would be masters. The Masters is a golf competition. And brains aren’t bought. They’re earned.

Michele Bachmann will not expect this offer by him. but now when she has expect this offer, so i hope, she will give her best..

Except you didn’t mind saying that the picture of Michelle Obama today looked like the monkey from the monkey picture yesterday. There must be no oxygen on that high horse you’re sitting on.

  • greg454

I hope that when Malia and what’s her name turn 18 they’re asked to pose for Playboy.

Florida won’t drill but Cuba will.
    http://libertarians4freedom.blogspot.com/2011/04/florida-wont-drill-but-cuba-will.html

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

@greg454: Playboy and Playgirl have nothing to do with one another, so why would one company’s bid for publicity have any bearing on the other? Though, while I’m willing to bet the Obama children probably would not be approached publicly, if either of them were to choose to model, Playboy or any similar publication would surely reward them handsomely.

What happened here is that a guy with a struggling website told someone who works for a larger media company, he had sent a Facebook message to Mr. Bachmann and was rejected. It’s sort of the same as the recent story about the Hoover Vacuum cleaner company pulling their ads from ABC soaps to protest the program’s cancellations; Putting the story out there didn’t cost anything and it generates publicity. Also in the case of Playgirl, by working Levi Johnston into the blurb, it’ll get his pics some additional pageviews.
