‘Tis the season to be jolly, but oh how the humbuggery finds its way into this joyous occasion every year. And lo and behold, ABC’s 20/20 focused on some real-life Grinches who don’t particularly care for the gaudy light displays and elaborate decorations on front lawns all across the country. Some houses, like one featured in the report, have gone all-out for the Christmas season, literally covering their houses in lights.

Tonight on the 20/20 holiday special (that’s the one where Sam Donaldson buys a sickly Christmas tree for the pageant and everyone makes fun of him), ABC will air a special interview that Barbara Walters did with Barack and Michelle Obama in which, presumably, Walters explains to them just was they’re so much less fascinating than the Kardashians.

In an interview that few thought would ever happen last January, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, alongside her husband, Mark Kelly, spoke to Diane Sawyer in her first interview since the fatal Tucson shooting that almost took her life. After narrating the incredible journey Giffords took to get to her current state, Giffords herself told Sawyer of the moment she realized others had died in the attack– when she realized her husband had skipped a paragraph in an article about her recovery.

In March of 2007, ABC series 20/20 and Good Morning America aired a video in a segment – titled “Enough!” – about whether certain ministry leaders were using money from congregants to support their lavish lifestyles. A portion of the video showed Dr. Frederick K.C. Price, founder of the Crenshaw Christian Center, claiming that “I live in a 25-room mansion, I have my own $6-million yacht, I have my own private jet and I have my own helicopter and I have seven luxury automobiles.” Problem is, that wasn’t true.

Barbara Walters talked to both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama tonight as part of a Thanksgiving 20/20 special, and unsurprisingly, one topic that arose was the toll the presidency takes on a family. Citing Michelle’s desire for her husband to quit politics back in 2000 when he lost the Democratic primary for Congress in Illinois, Walters asked the First Lady if she ever thinks that “one term is enough.”

ABC will air exclusive Jaycee Dugard home videos tonight on 20/20 at 10pm, depicting her interacting with family for the first time since her reunion with them. A preview is on the new online page of ABC News: 20/20 anchor and ABC News Chief Law and Justice Correspondent Chris Cuomo‘s “Cuomo on the Case,” officially launches tonight and promises to become a staple in network news online content.

Last night’s 20/20 featured an exclusive interview by Bob Woodruff with Andrew Young, a former John Edwards aide and author of the upcoming tell-all The Politician. 8.1 million people watched, the highest-rated 20/20 in nearly three months. If you missed it, we’ve got a clip from the show, detailing Edwards’ reaction immediately after the National Enquirer caught him at the Beverly Hilton visiting Rielle Hunter and their child.

Friday night’s Hope For Haiti special aired across nearly 100 networks around the world – and raised more than $50 million.

The initial broadcast network numbers are in, and the ratings are looking very strong.

Adam Lambert‘s appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America this week was canceled after concerns about “airing a similar concert [to his AMA performance] so early in the morning.”

Now news of another ABC celebrity booking comes out – ABC’s 20/20 will air a Chris Brown interview next month.

In her first interview since being beaten by then-boyfriend and fellow pop star Chris Brown, R&B singer Rihanna appeared Friday night on 20/20 to give her account of the ordeal and the aftermath to Diane Sawyer. For ABC, the returns were huge, giving the network its best ratings in that demo of the past 3 years.
