Brzezinski Mocks Scarborough’s ‘Long Road’ to Defend Rubio’s Climate Change Claim
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) made headlines Sunday when he dismissed the “notion” of mankind’s role in climate change on This Week with George Stephanopoulos. Monday morning’s Morning Joe devoted a significant amount of time to Rubio’s claim, with Mika Brzezinski mockery him as anti-science eliciting a series of defenses from co-host Joe Scarborough, which she then mocked.
Scarborough unspooled a theory that Al Gore and environmentalists overreached on this issue of climate change, becoming “televangelists” about the impending weather-based apocalypse and “rejecting” any dissent a la the Salem witch trials.
“But that reporter didn’t overreach in this questioning,” Brzezinski said, referring to Jonathan Karl. “Why are we talking about Al Gore? If it was someone more substantial, we should talk more, but it was Marco Rubio overplaying to the base. I suggest we move on.”
“In order to defend him you have to loop all the way around to Al Gore and extremism,” she continued. “It was a long road to defend him. Think about that one. It took you five minutes to explain why Marco Rubio was okay in his answering and it wasn’t. It was a bad answer.”
“Then let me do it in five seconds,” Scarborough said. “A lot of us believe the left have overreached on this issue and we’re not going to throw people out of work because of their ideological rampages.”
