Cheesy Cable News Feud? Anderson Cooper Puts Stephen Colbert On His ‘Ridicu-list’

video

Last month Stephen Colbert called out Anderson Cooper for putting Sean Hannity on his ‘Ridicu-list.’ Cooper criticized the Fox News host for what he deemed to be selective editing on Hannity’s special about liberal bias in the news. But Colbert claimed that AC360 was borrowing his own bit, which resulted in Cooper getting added to Colbert’s Absurd-U-Chart. With me so far? Good, because Tuesday night Cooper hit back at Colbert, in a surprisingly successful comedy bit for a CNN host.

News anchors are far more accustomed to delivering serious information with furrowed brow and gravitas, and so when they try their hand at comedy, it usually gets ugly fast. (There are exceptions to every rule of course, like NBC’s Brian Williamshave you heard how funny he is?!) But credit where its due: Anderson Cooper has good comedic timing and the smarts to not understand the jokes he’s delivering, but also the wisdom to hire decent joke writers.

One can only imagine that Colbert will take the bait, and fire back his own missive at Cooper on his own show. After all, the only thing better than a “cheesy cable news war” (as Cooper put it) is a pastiche of a “cheesy cable news war.”

At least they are funny, unlike the bomb throwers.

Man. All these left wing bomb throwers fighting over who’s gay list is bigger, better or the copycat.

Keith Olbermann must be turning over in his grave.

They are the bomb throwers, you dolt.

Cooper did pretty well. He’s not a comic, but he plays one on TV (at least every once in a while).

    Cooper,
    Please do not lower yourself…
Colbert is desperately trying to stay relevant…
Stewarts’ coat-tails are not as long as you might think..

Don’t you get tired of the racist, teabagger routine? Sad to be you.

you mean Bill Maher, Matthews, and Colbert?

Note: COLBERT IS NOT NEWS. COMEDY CENTRAL IS NOT A CABLE NEWS CHANNEL.

    That is all.

Don’t you get tired of flinging “racist” at things that have exactly nothing to do with race? Do you enjoy looking ignorant?

    umm, he doesn’t do news

Cooper was pretty good. Of course anyone who crosses Stewart or Colbert, even in jest, does so at their own peril. You can’t beat inspired-funny.

I look forward to Colbert’s clip showing that he invented reporting from a hurricane in a super-tight t-shirt first.

WHAT!? Your post is a little too self absorbed. While I’m sure the world is on pins and needles, waiting to hear what you think about “Two and a Half Men”, I for one don’t give a “sh1p”. Oh here’s a good one, “Go ahead and watch what ever you want, I give you permission”. And to all you “Neo-cons”, I demand you watch MSNBC. And to all you “Screaming Liberals”, I demand you watch Fox News. Take notes, there will be a test tomorrow.

Anderson was funny, he’s got Brian Williams potential. He should see if he can keep baiting Colbert, it’s a good opportunity to hone his comedic skills.
