CNN Segment Gets Uncomfortable After Piers Morgan Refers To Andrew Breitbart As ‘Notoriously Evil’

video

There was a whole lot going on last night and somehow we missed this little gem; During CNN’s New Hampshire coverage, Piers Morgan had a satellite chat with Michael Reagan and Andrew Breitbart. Morgan tried to ask Breitbart how badly the candidates were breaking the 11th Commandment of Michael’s father, jokingly referring to his guest as being “notoriously evil.” However, the humor was lost on Breitbart and the segment got surprisingly uncomfortable surprisingly quickly.

Breitbart, seemingly baffled why this guy was insulting him off the bat, retorted that Morgan didn’t know him too well and that they’d maybe spent eight seconds together. Morgan, who appeared to think they were still engaging in witty television banter, replied that it was “a long eight seconds,” causing Breitbart to go in a lengthy explanation of his work and public persona.

It was as uncomfortable as you’d imagine.

Fortunately, it all was a misunderstanding based on a particularly British turn of phrase and the two were able to patch things up afterwards.

Still it made for some wonderfully tense television. We have to imagine that there were a few seconds where Reagan was thinking “Oh my God. I’m just on satellite. I should just walk away.”

The idiot has the lowest ratings on cable news…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WH3ZLMM7CUKUHUIMK4TKXW6SQE John

Does “notoriously evil” mean something great in England?  I’m not sure I’m buying this.

  • http://twitter.com/Agonzo1 anthonybgonzalez

breitbart was over reacting, i’m sure the redeye guys asked questions with more sarcastic language, breibart’s radar was just twitchy.

  • Anonymous

Maybe he is always on the defensive because of his shady past.

  • Anonymous

Another reason why no one watches CNN; they sure are getting bad press of late.  Peirs is a jerk, bit time and well, then there is Dana, John’s wife…she is helping the network out a lot too!  Well, not really.

Poor Andrew Breibart.  Nobody with an ounce of journalistic integrity takes Andy seriously, and he knows it.

  • http://twitter.com/kentkangley Kent Kangley

But Andrew Breitbart IS notoriously evil, so where’s the problem?

  • Anonymous

You saying Piers Morgan has “Journalistic integrity”?  Oh you simple “liberals” crack me up. LOL.

  • NDanielson

And the coward, Che Guevara, spoke truth to power as he murdered innocent men, women and children.

  • NDanielson

    Exposing liberal clowns is shady?

  • Anonymous

Breitbart versus Morgan is one of those fights where there’s no good guy, there’s no lesser of two evils in this case.

Still it’s kind of laughable Piers Morgan would have the gall to call anyone notoriously evil, considering the fact he’s utterly loathed in the United Kingdom and is well known for being a petty, vindictive man that did things like using journalists and photographers as tools to carry out his personal vendettas against people for such crimes as making him look silly and unpopular on TV back in his days as a newspaper editor.

  • Anonymous

It’s all in the tone.  Why Morgan was on in the first place is beyond my ken.

  • Anonymous

The ‘journOlisters’ surely lost whatever journolistic integrity they had left in 2008.  Some days it seems that the term ‘journalist integrity’ goes in the same folder with ‘jumbo shrimp’.

Projectionist lies and propaganda, is a typical tactic for statists like Peirs Morgan..  Hitler used it against the Jews, as did the other communist and fascist dictators, as well as the radical arab islamic muslim extremist terrorists and their hate organizations, and so on..

Joseph Goebbels would have been proud of Peirs Morgan and probably would havve hired him..

    Enjoy the Che quotes:

    “The blacks, those magnificent examples
of the African race who have maintained their racial purity thanks to
their lack of an affinity with bathing, have seen their territory
invaded by a new kind of slave: the Portuguese.”

    “The
black is indolent and a dreamer; spending his meager wage on frivolity
or drink; the European has a tradition of work and saving, which has
pursued him as far as this corner of America and drives him to advance
himself, even independently of his own individual aspirations.”

    “The
episode upset us a little because the poor man, apart from being
homosexual and a first-rate bore, had been very nice to us, giving us 10
soles each, bringing our total to 479 for me and 163 1/2 to Alberto.”

    “The
first person we hit on was the mayor, someone called Cohen; we had
heard a lot about him, that he was Jewish as far as money was concerned
    but a good sort.”

Ohhhh, so that’s where stonepark got his Mediaite avatar.

I have to agree on this one – in a ranking on “journalistic corruptibility” I do think that Breitbart wins however.

  • Anonymous

Breibart is pond scum; the best that can be said of him is that he’s the Donald Segretti of the new millenium.

  • Anonymous

LOL…what a stretch in logic. The straw man lives.

  • Anonymous

Another Mediate tongue bath of the unclean pig, Breitbart.

  • http://foxnation.com TeaPartyPatriot4ever

LOL.. Of course, that’s in your most professional opinion.. as I’m sure you know all about being a straw man.

    tsk, tsk, tsk.

Have you ever thought about taking courses in human thouight and enlightenment.. Let me suggest these books-

“Capitalism and Freedom” by Milton Freidman, ”Closing of the American Mind” by Dr. Allan Bloom, noted Philosopher, Author, and Professor,  “Liberty and Freedom”, by Mark Levin, as well as “Plato’s Republic”.

Your entire post was irrelevant. Thank you for the literary references, however.

Piers has almost as much class as Dan Savage and slightly less than Martin Bashir.  He’s a smear merchant.

  • Anonymous

Breibart shows that he’s a thin skinned sob.

  • huffnnoccupyn

    Two things:
Humor is always based on truth, and humor doesn’t travel at all to Breitbart.

Conservatives over-inflate and take to the worst extreme the Mel Brooks posit on humor: “I cut my finger, that’s not funny. You fall into an open sewer and die, that’s funny.”

  • http://foxnation.com TeaPartyPatriot4ever

Why you’re welcome, and I will pray for you to be more enlightened in thought..

You have a nice day sir..

As to your latter point, the simple answer is that Morgan is “on” CNN.

As to your response to John, it’s not “in the tone”, it’s routine Brit snark. If some soccer player with a reputation for clean play is issued a yellow (warning) card for saying something to a referee that no one else heard or has the least idea what was said, you’ll hear & read about the entire Brit MSM sports apparatus calling him ‘the notoriously evil X’ for weeks. If a Brit MSM political news interviewer actually thinks the person he or she is interviewing is well & truly ‘notoriously evil’, you won’t hear any such accusation being levelled, but instead the interviewer will raise specific controversial incidents & UNDERSTATE the accusation (as in, ‘Now, Mr. Cheney, do you suggest that was entirely fair play?’).

It’s the way they do things over there, & not just on TV & in the print media, but all through society. If you want to hear the most pretentiously elitist flowery loftily overblown use of the English language imaginable, you don’t need to buy a ticket to a Shakespeare play, just turn on the telly to any play-by-play announcer in live description of any 5th division semi-pro soccer game. But – if you want to hear the most minimalist barely descriptive employment of the English language, just turn on the BBC news & listen to the news reader recite the graphic details of some mass murder or war atrocity in the flattest possible way.

  • Hout Bosques

    Talk about a non sequitur.

Hey VORNAK! Yoo-hoo: we’re over here – discussing Andrew Breitbart & Piers Morgan. The coast is completely clear of “journolisters”, so you’re safe to come out from underneath your bed & remove the hazmat suit; nothing but a winger fake journalist & a pretentious Brit toady talking head, & not a liberal in sight, honest.

  • Anonymous

Hey dumb person.  Piers Morgan is a Republican. HAHAHAHAHA!

  • Anonymous

…  just turn on the telly to any play-by-play announcer in live description of any 5th division semi-pro soccer game.

Who would want to do that ?  Just look at the clock, estimate the end time of regulation play, and tune in for the shootout to see who wins !

How can anybody have any respect what so ever for someone who edits and broadcast O’Keef’s  clearly false video’s and then claim them as being true?  Not just once, but several times.  In doing so he has tarnished the professional reputation of those being attack by O’keef’s video.  For that reason alone demonstrates the lengths that Beitbart will go in order to fabricate a story.  He is not a journalist by any definition.  He probably is being supported by the  ultra conservative deep pockets.  Even Beck has badmouth Brietbart’s journalistic integrity.  Coming from Beck, that really says your a jerk.

  • WiddleBabyDanielson

I watched part of the segment with Breitbart and have only one word to say

Agree with all that this intro was uncalled for. At the same time, Breitbart does come across as a major ahole.

  • shonangreg

I’m no fan of Breitbart, but are TV journos being trained to talk over the last half-dozen words of their guests’ answers? Neither Reagan nor Breitbart appears to be going into speech mode, but Morgan just jumped in, tried to get the next question going before the last one was played out, fumbled that, walked it back and tried again — not gaining any time in the process.

Piers looks like he is riding on the back of a truck, hanging on to the side and lowering his legs, and then air-running while the truck is cruising at highway speed. His little brain can keep up with his big mouth. When I see people talk that way, I just assume they have nothing valuable to say. Otherwise they’d be comfortable with a little fair-minded back-and-fourth.

CNN is sure missing with its new talent, particularly Erin Burnett & Piers Morgan, evidently they thought they were getting super stars, and both of them are just boring and lame…

  • http://conurls.com/ Chris Jones

The only person in that segment who’s “notorious” is Piers Morgan. He’s notorious for his low ratings and notoriously corrupt for his involvement in the British phone hacking scandal.

  • Anonymous

Breitbart is one of the sleaziest liars in media history. The scum who tried to lie about Shirley Sherrod and who screamed at a Palin crowd to “Go to hell” and just lies repeatedly.

Anybody can see that this guy is deranged.

  • Henry Wood

I think you meant to say the Newscorp phone hacking scandal.

Breitbart is notoriously evil and that’s his good side.

  • Tan

Haha. It’s takes alot for anyone to be on the side of Piers bloody Morgan, but here I am. Americans just have so much go over their heads. Yeah, he was semi kidding; but he was referring to Breitbart being a notorious lying Jack ass. Then he used the excuse that it was a British thing, bought hook line and sinker by author here (it’s a British ‘turn of phrase’ bahahaha) and probably many mediaite readers are scratching their heads.

I guess Americans don’t really understand when or when NOT actual REAL humour is being used against them (or not). No offense to your nationality, but humour is not Americas strong suit. Slapstick idiocy and talentless ventriloquists (dunham) and gaping bores (Dane cook! Yark! What’s wrong with you people! ;) ) do NOT equal humour. Seriously, no offence intended, we all fall short of British humour even antipodean humour which is very similar.

  • Tan

As Guest points out…Piers is actually widely reviled in the UK for his 1% style wankishness. He’s a conservative. He’d have voted for Thatcher and Major. He’s a giant tool and everyone hates him. It’s practically a running joke in Britain what a seedy snake of the upper class he is. A Romney from over the pond, if you will.

  • bob ross

Good and decent people won’t associate with Andrew Breitbart, he’s a whack job.

  • Anonymous

let’s see, a UK tabloid hack who’s biggest claim to fame in the US was being on a show that judged ventriloquists and 12 year old jugglers, a “journalist” who deceptively edits tapes to fit his agenda, and a guy who never got over the fact that daddy didn’t love him as much as his other kids.  THIS IS CNN!

  • Bandit

Notoriously evil = not a liberal crybaby

Breitbart is evil – no news here.

Ohmigod, what hypocrisy. Piers “Pot” Morgan, meet Andrew “Kettle” Breitbart.

For readers not fully aware of Morgan’s “credentials,” he was an entertainment reporter for The Sun (1989–94), and editor of News of the World (1994–95) and the Daily Mirror (1995–04). He did plenty of damage to people’s reputations at all of them, and laughed about it all the way to the bank. Lying, gossip, unfounded innuendo, going for the jugular…the whole ball o’ wax.

After having practically been run out of Britain on a rail (Iraq photo hoax), Morgan took Simon Cowell’s advice and moved to the U.S. where American viewers don’t really know his tawdry tabloid history. Now Morgan’s sordid past is being exposed along with every other low life at NOTW, etc. Without a public acknowledgement–indeed, an apology for deceiving the public during his years as a presence at not one but three notorious British tabloids–I don’t think Morgan will ever be able to wash the stink off himself from being mentored by Rupert Murdoch and Kelvin Mackenzie, both repulsive yellow journalists. Now he’s trotting himself out as a quality but “dangerous” mainstream interviewer on CNN. Shame on CNN for hiring this disreputable and lame excuse for a journalist. It’s a sad day for journalism when Piers Morgan is considered “quality journalism.”

  • Bugboy

Breitbart was still a lying sack of crap when he woke up in the morning, so what exactly are they “good” about?

  • http://twitter.com/kentkangley Kent Kangley

Sorry to disappoint you, but my avatar is not Che Guevara. It’s a Japanese girl wearing a beret. Nothing more than that.

Hey, I love British comedy, but some of the greatest comedians ever are American; Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Bill Hicks…

Damn, they’re all mostly dead or retired.  Maybe our heyday has passed.
