Elisabeth Hasselbeck Asks Stanley Tucci If Deceased Wife Saw Movie

tucci_12-17Stanley Tucci, along with his former “Devil Wears Prada” co-star Emily Blunt, was a guest on The View today to talk about his new movie, “The Lovely Bones.”

Things got awkward as Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked Tucci about whether his wife had seen the film – his wife who passed away in April.

Tucci was asked by Whoopi Goldberg if he read the book. “My wife had read the book and the first thing she said was ‘you can’t do that,’” he said. “And she might have been right, I don’t know. No, then I read the script and then later I read the book. I couldn’t almost focus on the book in its entirety, it’s too painful.”

Hasselbeck followed up with: “Has she seen it..has she seen any parts of it?”

Tucci quickly said, “No, no, no,” and turned to Barbara Walters, who tried to change the subject. “Well, you know, can I just ask something about that? Would you let your children see this?” she asked, to which Tucci also replied ‘no.’

Tucci’s wife of 14 years, Kate, passed away in April after a battle with breast cancer. It would have helped to make sure all the hosts were aware of that.

Here’s the clip from today:

Come on Steve Krakauer , This is a weak story. I would hate to have you as a friend or one of my employees. Your sneaky and deceiving with your reporting.

I dont care if you like Elisabeth or not it is a honest Mistake on her part …He started talking about his wife and her thoughts of the story he wrote. Elisabeth asked a good question unaware his wife died not to long ago.
The View gets many guest everyday and to research each of there background would be impossible.

I keep up with popular culture more than most and by golly, I had no idea Tucci had recently lost his wife. Tucci, in my mind, took the high road with his answer.

That is such crap – I don’t care if they have new guests every day – isn’t that the whole point of the show? If they invite a guest on a show, it is their responsibility, their JOB to know what is going on in a guest’s life. It’s not like they are expected to know the color of his socks, but the passing of a partner is a huge loss that someone on the View should have made everyone aware.
Just another example of Hasselbeck’s ineptitude as a host and the View’s lack of credibility by keeping her on the show.
