If you put it in perspective, bringing Osama to justice would have been the job of any president. Obama was present when the operation finally came to fruition, to do anything else but approve the operation would have been criminal, Obama didn’t commit that crime. Good for him.

There was little other choice. Drop a bomb on the compound and his DNA would have been much more difficult to get and facial recognition would have been in jeopardy. Plus you’d need bodies on the ground to quickly secure the area to collect any intellegence such as computers and paperwork.

Killing on the field of battle is recognized as justifiable. Torture is not. Bin Laden’s “McMansion” was, in fact, a fortified bunker and thus part of the “battlefield.” Killing the enemy in his bunker by whatever means is an accepted, longstanding warfare tactic.

Captured enemies are protected by the Geneva conventions. Had Bush not classified al Qaeda terrorists as “enemy combatants” they would not qualify for such protection. Even so, by committing torture we reduce ourselves to the enemy’s level. Do we really want to do that?

Do you refer to the Doolittle raid on Tokyo? It was an audacious and incredibly risky plan that paid off tremendously, both in morale at home and psychological damage to the enemy. FDR would’ve been pilloried by the “America Firsters” had the raid failed.

What a crock. Courage is what the SEAL operators showed, putting their lives on the line to go after the SOB. President Obama wouldn’t know courage from a political calculation. He’s nothing but a jumped up community organizer who’s never put anything on the line in his life.

The way this operation was handled was entirely political. By the White House, not the shooters, who were great, Were there a president of the USA who knew anything about military matters and cared about operational effectiveness, there would have been no release of information at all. The Pakistanis would have found the compound empty and the wreckage of the helicopter, and been left to wonder what happened, and to whom. Instead, we have our community organizer announcing that OBL was killed, that important information was taken, and that OBL had been buried at sea. No operational security at all.
