Hillary Clinton: ‘Secretary Of State Will Be My Last Public Position’

video

Hillary Clinton was in Bahrain today and told an audience that she had no plans to run for president and that her current job as Secretary of State was her last public position, ending speculation that she would be somehow challenging President Obama for the Democratic nomination in 2012. She added that after she completed her term as Secretary of state, she would focus on advocacy work on behalf of women and children.

Writing for Reuters, Andrew Quinn reports:

Clinton, who has repeatedly laughed off suggestions she might still want to take command of the White House, told an audience of Bahrain students that she was not contemplating a repeat run for president after losing to Barack Obama in 2008.

“No, I’m not,” Clinton said. “I think I’ll serve as secretary of state as my last public position and then probably go back to advocacy work, particularly on behalf of women and children.”

It was the first time Clinton has spoken so directly about leaving public service, where she has been a dominant figure in Democratic circles for two decades.

Chatter about a possible second Clinton run at the presidency ramped up after the Democrats’ serious losses in the mid-term congressional elections, which were widely interpreted as a referendum on Obama’s first two years in office.

Watch a clip of Ms. Clinton’s statement as reported by Shepard Smith on Fox News below:

I wonder if this thread will mark the hysterical return of DCMediaFraud. This is his wedge issue and now it’s going away. What a sad day for conservative sophists.

    hahahahaha

    Good riddance.

She finally has a job where she had to answer to someone else and get results and she doesn’t like it.
Being First Lady was more fun.

There’s no way that HRC is going to run against the president in ’12, but I’d certainly take the pronouncement that this is her last public gig with a truckload of rock salt.

  • http://gordonbloyershow.com gordonbloyershow

This is the ONE TIME that I believe her. She no longer cares what she looks like. That is a sign that she never plans to run. She lets her hair go loose and scragley. She lets her neck wrinkles show. The bags under eyes are getting worse.
I think she has come to realize that she could not win. She might be able to beat Obama but she could NEVER win the presidency. The dems that support her don’t understand that she is what they think Palin is.
She will always be ducking those snipers.

  • Probably NOT wrong

Problem. When time comes for Hillary to haul ass
it is going to take three trips.

I have not been a Clinton fan for a variety of reasons (either of them). But I will say that she has been relatively quietly dignified in her recent years, and I respect the clarity of her statement…that is very respect worthy.

I know some conservatives developed a grudging respect for Hillary over the years. Anyone who endured what she did through the Clinton years must be made of some pretty stern stuff. And Sec State must be a bitch right now, no doubt about it. I appreciate and happily associate myself with your comments. ;-)

    Wikileaks probably sealed the deal.

One wonders if the Obama’s didn’t mind seeing the Hillary part of the Wikileaks come out so it would result in this.

Hey, if anything made me respect Hillary Clinton it was learning that she was using the Sec. State title as a defacto spy master, comfortable in her knowledge that she would remain unassailed by leftwing critics thanks to her liberal cred.

    You go, girl!

Very funny, but that was my second factual error in months of commenting here, AND I owned up to it and corrected it, even giving you credit for being right… for once in your miserable existence. If we expressed our veracity as batting averages, you’re batting about .022, and I’m batting about .997. Wanna calculate slugging percentage, slugger?

That policy began under Rice. I still haven’t seen an explanation as to whether that was a policy that was continued automatically (agency heads sign shit they don’t read all the time, every party, every administration), or whether it was a policy she actually reviewed and chose to continue herself. I would be very interested in that answer. She doesn’t get an automatic pass from me if she supported that policy. I think it’s extremely dangerous and counterproductive to turn diplomats into spies, in a myriad of ways.

Good luck with that. I have yet to see anyone in the American media directly address the Wikileak charge that HRC ordered a probe on UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Hillary isn’t so bad, give her a break, politically and personally, people have taken great strides to make her back down… but she is doing it on her own terms… good for her.

Although I wonder if this has to do with Julian Assange’s comments that she should resign.

You notice, of course, that she qualified the second part of her statement: “I think …” Not so much clarity there.

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

    AHA!!! Wikileaks WORKED!!!!!

It was Obama’s 4 year conspiracy to knock Hillary out of the race AND NOW SHE IS!!!!!

And this whole time I thought you teabloggers were crazy. Silly me!

Jon, I think that she has seen Bill have a good life away from most of the political bullshit one has to deal with when in office. I do believe her this time. She does look tired most of the time which is no wonder with the job she hjas now. I am even going so far to say that she is happy as hell she lost at this point. No one in their right mind would want all of this on their plate today. The Republicans would have tortured her as they do Obama. Everything she did that they don’t agree on would be because she is a WOMAN. She will find a life outside of politics.

I was putting them in their place because they were playing the police. You as usual, jump to conclusions. Very cute, Gordon, but no. You played grammar cop with me just a week ago. But listen, you and I will always be on opposite sides of every ideological divide, but if you’re saying you don’t want to play grammar cop, then let’s agree to at least let that go with each other. I won’t single you out for doing that anymore if you don’t DO it to me anymore. Deal? ;-)

Don’t count on it!!! Remember, she’s a Cliton, and they only lie when their lips move.

“Hillary Clinton: ‘Secretary Of State Will Be My Last Public Position’” will soon be followed by “Like George Washington who, after commanding the Continental Army that won our independence and was later called upon to serve as our first president, I have heard the call of my country to serve as your _______, and like every good citizen, I care about my country more than my personal ambitions….”
