‘I’m Out’: GOP Rep. Jason Chaffetz Withdraws Support for Trump Over Audio
Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz declared tonight that he is officially withdrawing his endorsement of Donald Trump over the audio of sexist 2005 remarks released today.
Chaffetz first announced to Fox 13 News tonight, “I’m out. I can no longer in good conscience endorse this person for president. It is some of the most abhorrent and offensive comments that you can possibly imagine.”
He called into CNN later in the evening and told Don Lemon that while he cannot bring himself to vote for Hillary Clinton, he cannot stand by and give his support to someone who says the kind of “abhorrent” things Trump does.
Chaffetz even went so far to say, “[I] got a 15-year-old daughter. You think I can look her in the eye and tell her that I endorse Donald Trump for president when he acts like this? And his apology, that was no apology, that was an apology for getting caught.”
