MSNBC’s Cenk Uygur Doesn’t Read Chart That Says ‘Black Separatists’ Are A Hate Group

video

It’s a cliche in American politics to attack the other side with some variation of “you can’t handle the truth,” but sometimes it’s hard to find any other way to describe moments when prepackaged political views and hard data collide. MSNBC host Cenk Uygur had one such moment today as he appeared to refuse to read data on a chart by his guest’s institution that showed black separatists groups were in the top three kinds of hate groups in America today.

Uygur’s segment focused on Rep. Peter King‘s recent comments on Islam and what he perceived to be a lack of communication between the authorities and Muslim groups. Uygur wondered why Rep. King put such an emphasis on Muslim groups when the reality, according to Uygur, was that right-wing hate groups were far more active in America than Muslim extremists.

“Let me introduce real facts here so that Congressman King can be educated,” Uygur boasts before showing a number of statistics from various research groups. Rep. King wasn’t the only one to get educated tonight, however, as Uygur read down a list of most prominent hate groups in America, listing the top three varieties of hate groups in America, classifying them before reading off the list as “right wing.” The statistics come from a recent study by the Southern Poverty Law Center that show there are currently 1,002 active hate groups in America.

“Topping the list,” he began, “[are] the Ku Klux Klan with 221 groups. They are followed with Neo-Nazi groups with 170 groups, and”– at this point Uygur stops for a beat, before ending the list with “that doesn’t make any sense.” What doesn’t make any sense? That the third largest hate group contingent in America are black separatist groups. Not exactly the first type of political group conjured up by the phrase “right-wing,” unless Uygur was willing to argue that the social conservatism often found in black separatist groups somehow made them right-wing or some other similarly stretched-out argument. Of course, the socially conservative black separatist groups on the SPLC’s list mostly appear to be chapters of the Nation of Islam, and slamming them would not exactly strengthen Uygur’s argument that focusing on Islamic groups is a waste. Uygur smartly didn’t try to argue that, but at its expense failed to argue anything at all, responding to the chart by just shaking his head and refusing to read the facts it gave him. He smoothed it out by introducing his guest, Mark Potok of the SPLC, who mostly avoided the troublesome statistic as well.

Bad move, Cenk. Should’ve read the figures. Then challenged Rep. King to investigate fundamental Christianity, (all those burning crosses), and the militia movements (the swastikas).
Then you might have asked King about NORAID, and his fundraising for the IRA bombers.

Cenk and all these other numbingly blind idiots are trying so hard it’s comical. When you have 6 terrorist attacks in a row committed by muslim men yelling allahu akbar, what’s the first logical thing they want to investigate? The KKK of course.

It’ll be interesting to find out why Cenk stopped at that point. That’s a hell of a jump in conclusion however. Many other excuses are possible. The SPLC started out fine 40 years ago , but became a very wealthy left wing hate group all on it’s own .

“The Ku Klux Klan, the SPLC’s most lucrative nemesis, has shrunk from 4 million members in the 1920s to an estimated 2,000 today [year 2000], as many as 10 percent of whom are thought to be FBI informants. But news of a declining Klan does not make for inclining donations to Morris Dees and Co., which is why the SPLC honors nearly every nationally covered ‘hate crime’ with direct-mail alarums full of nightmarish invocations of ‘armed Klan paramilitary forces’ and ‘violent neo-Nazi extremists…”

    Oh…you didn’t know?

    “The Good Ship Jesus

What has come to be referred to as “The Good Ship Jesus” was in fact the “Jesus of Lubeck,” a 700-ton ship purchased by King Henry VIII from the Hanseatic League, a merchant alliance between the cities of Hamburg and Lubeck in Germany. Twenty years after its purchase the ship, in disrepair, was leant to Sir John Hawkins by Queen Elizabeth.

Hawkins, a cousin of Sir Francis Drake, was granted permission from Queen Elizabeth for his first voyage in 1562. He was allowed to carry Africans to the Americas “with their own free consent” and he agreed to this condition. Hawkins had a reputation for being a religious man who required his crew to “serve God daily” and to love one another. Sir Francis Drake accompanied Hawkins on this voyage and subsequent others. Drake, was himself, devoutly religious. Services were held on board twice a day.

    John Hawkins Coat of Arms
A bound slave adorns John Hawkins’ coat of arms.
Off the coast of Africa, near Sierra Leone, Hawkins captured 300-500 slaves, mostly by plundering Portugese ships, but also through violence and subterfuge promising Africans free land and riches in the new world. He sold most of the slaves in what is now known as the Dominican Republic. He returned home with a profit and ships laden with ivory, hides, and sugar. Thus began the British slave trade.”

They were DEMOCRATS. If they were Republicans, your response would have been different.

That was 1924. In the 1930′s, the Liberals/Progressives were big into Eugenics – again to get rid of Blacks (and others.)

In the 1950′s, the liberals were cornered and they adapted by trying to be the champions of minorities. But as we have all seen, the policies and programs started by liberals in the 60′s have been terrible. About all we can say about the results of these terrible liberal ideas is that there has been a lot of hopelessness, despair and death. The Liberals basically re-enslaved blacks. They did the same thing to the American Indians.

Bullocks. The slave trade got off the ground because Native Americans didn’t make good slaves for White Colonists. The Spaniards tried it first in Hispaniola (the REAL Christopher Columbus) and many islanders picked infanticide rather than damning their children to a life of torture and rape at the hands of White imperialists.
So Whites imported them from Africa because it was easier, and alliances already existed with other Africans facilitating the transport– or can you link to me the Black owned ships that brought them over here?

I’d also guess, that Nation of Islam is not the Muslims that Rep King wants to investigate. He might want to look at the effect the anti-Muslim groups are having.

As Martin Luther King Jr. once said: “Violence begets violence; hate begets hate; and toughness begets a greater toughness. It is all a descending spiral, and the end is destruction — for everybody. Along the way of life, someone must have enough sense and morality to cut off the chain of hate.”

problem is that the Church of Islam (Black Muslims) is a copycat version of Scientology, being a UFO/extraterrestrially-based religion. one of the tenets is that believers (ie, blacks) will one day be placed back into their original positions of power when their extraterrestrial guides/progenitors return.

(check Parliament/Funkadelic’s video ‘Give Up The Funk (Gonna Tear The Roof Off The Sucker)’, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UypeE3zTwBs&feature=related
the ‘Mothership Connection’ that George Clinton lands in is a symbol of the expected return of the extraterrestrials, who’ll restore believers to their ‘rightful position’. (of course, black stereotypes of the time were also alluded to).

to this are added some elements of true Islam. some books (ex Koran) and beliefs are adhered to, others aren’t. most Muslims (Sunni, Shia, etc) don’t consider the Church of Islam as being members of ‘true Islam’, much as Protestants and Catholics may say Mormonism is not ‘true’ Christianity. in the latter case, the magical compass that got their ancestors here, & the repeated calls to Revolutionary Era values of freedom and liberty might have something to do with it.

my purpose in the above is to explain that the Church of Islam has elements which separate it from Shia or Sunni Islam. lumping them together would be similar to lumping Mormons with Catholics or Protestants, which many so-called ‘real Christians’ would be loathe to do.

Ha! Once again the far left crazy world view meets reality and it can’t bear to acknowledge it. This is what happens when you live in fantasy land. The fantasy land that the far left in this country live in is one where white American males are inherently racist, stupid (and at the same time capable of genius like evil planning), inbred, invented slavery, hate the poor, sick, young, old, gays, and all other races. And any time that left wing common knowledge is threatened, or contrary evidence is presented, they stick their head in the sand. They make exceptions for the white males that believe in left wing politics, of course. Then they try to explain away conservative thinkers as having primitive brains http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/rightwing-brains-different-2171127.html

    –Cobra

African slave trading happened long before the Atlantic Slave Trade/America got involved, and it still continues to this day.

The Atlantic slave trade refers to the trade in slaves that took place across the Atlantic ocean from the sixteenth through to the nineteenth centuries. The vast majority of slaves involved in the Atlantic trade were Africans from the central and western parts of the continent, who were sold by African slave dealers to European traders, who transported them to the colonies in North and South America.

Slavery in Africa continues today. Slavery existed in Africa before the arrival of Europeans – as did a slave trade that exported millions of Africans to North Africa, the Middle East, and the Persian Gulf. This trade existed following the Arab conquests of regions beneath Northern Africa and thus became widespread throughout the continent.

The very earliest external slave trade was the trans-Saharan slave trade.

Historians agree between 11 and 18 million Africans were enslaved by Arab slave traders and taken across the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and Sahara desert between 650 and 1900, compared to 9.4 to 14 million Africans brought to the Americas in the Atlantic slave trade from 15th century to the early 19th century.

The trade of slaves across the Indian Ocean also has a long history beginning with the control of sea routes by Afro-Arab traders in the ninth century.

The first Europeans to arrive on the coast of Guinea were the Portuguese; the first European to actually buy African slaves in the region of Guinea was Antão Gonçalves, a Portuguese explorer in 1441 CE/AD.

The Spanish were the first Europeans to use African slaves in the New World on islands such as Cuba and Hispaniola.

The Atlantic slave trade peaked in the late 18th century, when the largest number of slaves were captured on raiding expeditions into the interior of West Africa. These expeditions were typically carried out by African kingdoms against weaker African tribes and peoples.

For the Atlantic slave trade, captives purchased from slave dealers in West African regions known as the Slave Coast, Gold Coast, and Côte d’Ivoire were sold into slavery as a result of a defeat in warfare. In the Bight of Biafra near modern-day Senegal and Benin, some African kings sold their captives locally and later to European slave traders for goods such as metal cookware, rum, livestock, and seed grain. Previous to the voyage, the victims were held in “slave castles” and deep pits where many died from multiple illnesses and malnutrition. Conditions were even worse in the Middle Passage across the Atlantic where up to a third of the slaves died en route.

Arabs also enslaved substantial numbers of Europeans. According to Robert Davis between 1 million and 1.25 million Europeans were captured by Barbary corsairs, who were vassals of the Ottoman Empire, and sold as slaves between the 16th and 19th centuries.

The Arab slave trade from East Africa is one of the oldest slave trades, predating the European transatlantic slave trade by 700 years

The Arab slave trade originated before Islam and lasted more than a millennium. It continues today in some places. Arab traders brought Africans across the Indian Ocean from present-day Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Sudan, Eritrea, western Ethiopia and elsewhere in East Africa to present-day Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Turkey and other parts of the Middle East and South Asia (mainly Pakistan and India). Unlike the trans-Atlantic slave trade to the New World, Arabs supplied African slaves to the Muslim world, which at its peak stretched over three continents from the Atlantic (Morocco, Spain) to India and eastern China.

Hear what they saying? These are people that need medication just to get by in life. A good example, for those who haven’t, would be the end of that 9/11 truther dvd. If you have ever seen it, at the end memebers of the audience get to approach a mic and comment on what the panel had just showed. The people are seriously retarded. If all this seems off topic, all I want to point out is that people like Cenk is one of them and he is currently employed by others like him. Hence the ratings that envelope MSNBC.

More on topic: King is 100% right and doing a great thing. To argue otherwise one would have to claim that we are not at war with islamic extremist, there are none in America and we cant possibly face a threat from them. That cant possibly be done, hence the people mentioned in paragraph one.

    That’s hilarious.

It’s amazing how deep of a hole they will dig. They’re so serious too – as if they actually believe the bs.

And then when they do get out, they will deny that they were in a hole.

I’m pretty sure that this form of liberalism, what I call Modern Liberalism/Progressivism is very similar to alcohol addiction:

    - Massive denial.
    Lying.
    - Making things up.
    - Forgetting what they just said,.
    - Anger at the people who pint out the issues, etc, etc, etc.

Now Mr Cenk Uygur, speaking of “facts” let me remind you about the US demographics:

The WHITES alone in the US make up 74.8% of the entire population (229.8 million)
The BLACKS alone in the US make up only 12.4% of the entire population (38.1 million)

According to population statistics, the Whites are almost 7 times more than Blacks in America.

So according to the data you presented to your viewers today, if the black separatists came out 3rd place with as much as 149 hate groups, when they make up only a tiny fraction of the entire US population; I guess one can only imagine the number of blacks affiliated to, or in support of hate groups.

Whenever there are statistics that tend to compare the White and Black races, it is essential to first take note of the fact that black are outnumbered, since they make only 12.4% of the entire population(38.1 million our of the 309 million). So according to this ratio, we can assume there are 1,000 White apples in a basket and 150 of them are bad, while you have only 300 Black apples in a basket with as much as 90 bad apples.

Bullocks. The slave trade got off the ground because Native Americans didn’t make good slaves for White Colonists.

Arabs were enslaving Africans for a millennium before the Atlantic Slave trade started. And slavery still goes on today. You are blaming it all on *whites* and American colonists.

Enslaved Africans were sold in the towns of the Muslim world. In 1416, al-Maqrizi told how pilgrims coming from Takrur (near the Sénégal River) had brought 1,700 slaves with them to Mecca. In North Africa, the main slave markets were in Morocco, Algiers, Tripoli and Cairo. Sales were held in public places or in souks. Potential buyers made a careful examination of the “merchandise”: they checked the state of health of a person who was often standing naked with wrists bound together.

RACE BASED CHATTEL SLAVERY existed long before the Atlantic Slave trade began.

Al-Jahiz also stated in his Kitab al-Bukhala (“Avarice and the Avaricious”) that:
“We know that the Zanj (blacks) are the least intelligent and the least discerning of mankind, and the least capable of understanding the consequences of their actions.”[55]
Jahiz’ criticism however, was limited to the Zanj and not blacks in totality, likely as a result of the Zanji revolts in his native Iraq.[55]
This sentiment was echoed in the following passage from Kitab al-Bad’ wah-tarikh (vol.4) by the medieval Arab writer Al-Muqaddasi:
As for the Zanj, they are people of black color, flat noses, kinky hair, and little understanding or intelligence.[55]
Al-Dimashqi (Ibn al-Nafis), the Arab polymath, also described the inhabitants of Sudan and the Zanj coast, among others, as being of “dim” intelligence and that:
…the moral characteristics found in their mentality are close to the instinctive characteristics found naturally in animals.
—Andrew Reid and Paul J. Lane, African Historical Archaeologies[56]
By the 14th century, an overwhelming number of slaves came from sub-Saharan Africa, leading to prejudice against black people in the works of several Arabic historians and geographers. For example, the Egyptian historian Al-Abshibi (1388–1446) wrote: “It is said that when the [black] slave is sated, he fornicates, when he is hungry, he steals.”

In east Africa the main slave trade involved arabized east Africans
David Livingstone wrote of the slave trade: “To overdraw its evils is a simple impossibility … We passed a slave woman shot or stabbed through the body and lying on the path. [Onlookers] said an Arab who passed early that morning had done it in anger at losing the price he had given for her, because she was unable to walk any longer. We passed a woman tied by the neck to a tree and dead … We came upon a man dead from starvation … The strangest disease I have seen in this country seems really to be broken heartedness, and it attacks free men who have been captured and made slaves.” Livingstone estimated that 80,000 Africans died each year before ever reaching the slave markets of Zanzibar.

Slavery happened long before, and is still happening today, in Africa. And with the help of Africans, who rounded them up and sold them.

  • http://www.thecobraslair.com Cobra

First, Sarah…you don’t provide links to your quotes. Second, Native Americans DID NOT make good slaves for New World White Colonists.

“It is not known how many Indians were enslaved by the Europeans, but they certainly numbered in the tens of thousands. It is estimated that Carolina merchants operating out of Charles Town shipped an estimated 30,000 to 50,000 Indian captives between 1670 and 1715 in a profitable slave trade with the Caribbean, Spanish Hispaniola, and northern colonies. Because of the higher transportation costs of bringing blacks from Africa, whites in the northern colonies sometimes preferred Indian slaves, especially Indian women and children, to blacks. Carolina actually exported as many or even more Indian slaves than it imported enslaved Africans prior to 1720. The usual exchange rate of captive Indians for enslaved Africans was two or three Indians to one African.

Until late in the 18th century, Indian slaves worked on English plantations along side African slaves and even, occasionally, white indentured servants. Women and children frequently were used as menial laborers or domestic servants. By 1720, most whites in the southeastern British colonies preferred enslaved Africans to Indians for obvious reasons. Indians could, for one thing, more easily run away into the wilderness. Also, Europeans always feared the possibility of a coalition of enslaved Africans and enslaved Indians, aided by free Indians on the frontier. What’s more, English settlers played the Indians off against one another in the various Indian wars or wars of empire fought between European colonial powers, using them as allies or as paid mercenaries. Additionally, Europeans commonly believed that Native American men, culturally conditioned to be hunters, considered fieldwork to be women’s work, and that Indian warriors would not adapt easily to agricultural labor in comparison to enslaved Africans. Most importantly, the demand for enslaved labor in the tobacco and rice plantations came to far exceed the potential supply of Indian captives, especially once European diseases began to decimate Indian populations and once the Indians began to more effectively resist European powers.”
    http://www.slaveryinamerica.org/history/hs_es_indians_slavery.htm

So I was CORRECT. The demand for African Slaves in the Western Hemisphere “got off the ground” because of supply and demand. I didn’t blame it “all on Whites”, but it damn sure wasn’t BLACK people piloting those slave ships like the “Good Ship Jesus” to Western Hemisphere.

Third, look at your OWN implied statement here:

    sarainitaly said:
Slavery happened long before, and is still happening today, in Africa. And with the help of Africans, who rounded them up and sold them.

Slavery is occurring around the WORLD, Sarah. You’re an intelligent person. You know damn well what’s going on in Eastern Europer RIGHT NOW:

“Until reading reporter Victor Malarek’s angry book about the trafficking of women from Eastern Europe, I grasped neither the scale nor the implications of the activities that financed those Plovdiv boutiques. According to Malarek, formerly an investigative reporter at The Globe and Mail, now at W-FIVE, during the last decade, hundreds of thousands of women from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania have been sold into slavery as prostitutes.

Crime syndicates use a variety of methods to capture young women. A girl walking down a road in Moldova is forced into a car. An overflowing Romanian orphanage receives a visit from “social workers” offering “apprentice programs” for adolescent girls. A young Ukrainian woman desperate to help her starving parents responds to a newspaper advertisement for au pairs to work in Germany. An ambitious young graduate signs up with what appears to be a legitimate foreign corporation at a job fair at a Russian university.

These women are transported westward to be “broken” by being raped and beaten. In cities such as Belgrade, Yugoslavia, stunned women stand naked in secluded apartments waiting to be bought by pimps. A woman can sell for as little as $500 or as much as $10,000. After being sold, she will be locked in a room, fed one meal a day, tortured with cigarette burns to destroy her self-esteem, and forced to have sex with up to a dozen men a day, seven days a week, until exhaustion or disease wipe out her market value. The pimp makes back his investment in less than a week.

The scale of this traffic is mind-numbing. In Germany, up to half a million Eastern European women work as prostitutes. The streets of Italy are lined with Romanian and Moldovan teenagers. Other serious offenders include Greece, Turkey and South Korea, while some of the “Natashas” end up in Toronto, Chicago or Los Angeles.”
    http://www.rense.com/general43/sex.htm

You knew all about this, Sarah, didn’t you? Of course you did. But you didn’t post it because it doesn’t support the “It’s-black-people’s-own-fault-they-were-enslaved-and-look-they’re-the-only-ones-still-doing-it-today” narrative.

Black people were not piloting the ships, but they were rounding up men, women and children from neighboring regions, and selling them into slavery. My point that they are still doing it today is that while there was a demand during the settlement of America, slave traders have continued in Africa despite there no longer being a demand in America.

It was a horrible mark in our nations history, but it is a horrible mark on the entire world, through out history, and sadly, it continues.

And you are correct, one of the main reasons was that Indians were dying from European diseases.

Ok, we have grounds of agreement. My question is why you didn’t volunteer this information earlier in the thread in response to:

    illusive man said:
Just remember that the slave trade was only able to get off the ground because of native african black’s that sold out there own race for a price.

…which YOU YOURSELF stated is wrong on the facts? Why do you let Illusive man off the hook? Is it because he’s on the conservative side in this argument?

    sarainitaly said:
Black people were not piloting the ships, but they were rounding up men, women and children from neighboring regions, and selling them into slavery. My point that they are still doing it today is that while there was a demand during the settlement of America, slave traders have continued in Africa despite there no longer being a demand in America.

What do you mean there’s no demand in America for slave labor? Of course there is. It’s just now illegal. So what do American manufacturers do to find the cheapest labor source they can exploit?

They outsource to countries like China, Cambodia or Vietnam where the working conditions in many cases damn near RESEMBLE slavery.

Speaking of stories MSNBC will fail to notice:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1364626/Up-28-men-boys-filmed-gang-rape-11-year-old-girl-mobile-phones-Cleveland-Texas-Cleveland-high-school.html

Normally one would think the gang rape of an 11-year-old girl by up to 28 men and teen-age boys would merit some national media attention.

    Cobra,

You are seeing the bogeyman. He isn’t real. He isn’t in your closet and he isn’t a conservative. Most of the things you believe are not true. Just like you injected your own false conceptions on Sarah’s words, you also are simply wrong about what conser vatives think and believe. I suggest you stop reading the leftwing sites for a bit. Read what conservatives actually SAY and write. Learn about those who believe different from yourself. Get to know someone who is a Republican. Your world will not be so narrow.

    Kathleen,

Please allow me to introduce myself. I’m a guy who grew up around conservatives. There are conservatives all around me. I do business with conservatives. I socialize with conservatives. There are conservatives on the radio 24/7. There are conservatives on Fox News 24/7. The governor of my state is a conservative. This blog is burst ripe with conservative posters.
Respectfully, for you to suggest that I haven’t heard or what conservatives “say” or read what they “write”, is hysterically funny. I simply and categorically DISAGREE with conservative ideology on a wide array of subjects.

Given that…what is your idea of the “conservative” viewpoint on the subject myself and Sarah are discussing?

My oh my, is this getting personal, sounds like folks here belong to some of these hate groups.

So lets look at the list 1 out of 6 is not a right wing hate group, So There, Mr. America! There are hate groups on the liberal side too. What? The Nation of Islam, the only group that the Southern Poverty group mentions as Black Separatist, isn’t a liberal organization! Well, they’re not Right Wing, that’s for sure!

That’s right that group listed as Black Separatist on the chart don’t want to belong to the left or right, they want the truly impossible, a country for themselves. Well that’s their views, but the real issue is where are the Muslim hate groups in America? Oh, someone here said they’re on the radio, must be talking code so that the rest of us can’t hear them.

We’ve got more hate going on in our churches around the country plotting to kill doctors, and planning strategies to forbid Americans their Rights as granted under the constitution. To Quote our Tea Party Patriots “Our Forefathers knew what was right!” and they wrote as The First Amendment which reads “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ….”, while Article VI specifies that “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” But, these churches are prohibiting muslim’s their First Amendment right of free exercise.

We now have going on in Congress a witch hunt with Rep. Peter King (R-NY) seeking out these muslim radicals. After all who better to lead this than the Congressman who publicly stated “there are too many mosques in America!” America has become a country of hate and the restriction of rights. All started in the Name of 9-11, there has never at any time in America been more spying of Americans by Americans, taping of phones of Americans by Americans and who knows what else has been going on under the clock of National Security.

We are all familiar with MSNBC censoring news for political correctness, But is especially amusing to see it happen in real time on-the-air.

This is why reasonable viewers have switched to Fox. If you want to find out what is really happening in the world, you can’t rely on the networks that censor and “purify” the stories before you get to hear them. It’s really that simple.

    hehehehehe!

you make DUBYA laugh by saying “REASONABLE PEOPLE HAVE SWITCHED TO FOX”… FOX?! the FAKEWORK THAT LIES??? the FAKEWORK that went to an appeals court to overturn a fair ruling by the people to get the right to lie to it’s viewers? “REASONABLE” people are tuning into the most distrusted fakework that exists?

Can you explain why you keep going back to drink from a fountain of LIES when fox is the ONLY FAKEWORK to go to an appeals court to overturn a fair ruling by the people to get the “OK” to LIE & DISTORT NEWS? Please take a minute to stop spreading your DISHONES-TEA & INSANI-TEA & explain this matter of public record. Real Americans, like me, would like to understand your treason.

LOOK FAMILIAR? A recent German magazine ran an article saying Goebbels would be “proud” of the misinformation & propaganda being disseminated by FOX. Shouldn’t this clue you in?

Look at it this way: There are those who believe we deserve what we get or even outright hope we lose. Understand this, when terror strikes again, lets say a nice train bombing, in the perfect world only the those people would evaporate in a cloud of dust or wind up laying there screaming “Where’s my legs!” or “How could this happen?”

But it’s not a perfect world. So when such attacks happen, i’m lying there next to you or jumping from the window next to you. Thats why i’m irate and pissed. Being a bigot has nothing to do with it! I guarntee you, if it were you lying there legless you would all of a sudden come to realize that hearings, searching bags before entering the train, wire tapping, everything you probably cursed and got angry at would all of a sudden seem like the thing we should have been doing.

Thats why I lose my patience very quickley with you people over this subject. Your like little children that need to be led by the hand but yet you carry a vote and a voice of an adult. Basicaly, F— You!

All the odds and similar examples in the world wouldn’t make a difference because NOTHING matters till it happens to you or a loved one. And it’s hard to tolerate letting it happen when I KNOW you would see it our way only AFTER disaster struck.

Now if atrocities were happening I would be understanding of “This isn’t our countries way” arguments. But thats not happening. Not only is that not happening but all we’re seeing here is basic police type work to spread information, learn more, show the enemy we’re on it and trying to prevent what we know HAS BEEN HAPPENING! Do you get that last part in bold print? It’s important that you do.

This enemy does not let you know who they are until they’re slitting your pilots throat and taking over your cockpit. That means that on Sept 10th 2001 you would have been defending Atta as some “victim” of Kings hearings. I have a hard time believing, you or any other lib cant see this. I feel you just dont care because 1, we deserve it because we are wrong and 2, your not personally concerned because of the stats you yourself post here.

I feel thats just how you people think: “I dont care cause I have a better chance of getting hit by a meteorite.” And “I would understand an attack on us because we ‘shouldn’t have done this’ or ‘gone there.’”

When you see that this is how I think you see this, cant you honestly understand how “F— you liberal scumbag” might cross my mind?

And lastly, the meteor/terrorist comparison is flatly false. You could know that without even opening these links.

Nonsense. There were photos out of every single hijacker HOURS after the September 11, 2001 attacks. There were people TRACKING them. The government had warnings about potential attacks using airplanes.

Plus there a common sense factor, Steve. You know what “blowback” is, right? If you slap somebody in the face, that person is going to remember and want payback. It might not happen immediately, but down the road. More than one member of the intelligence community knew something was coming, though without specifics.

It’s exactly the reason why I feel the way I do. I’m a minority in this country, which means at any given moment, I can (and have) been the recipient of selective racial profiling. During the 50′s and 60′s the government hounded civil rights marchers accusing them of being “communist sympathizers”. Before that they went after Japanese-Americans, throwing them into internment camps. They went after the Irish, Italians, Chinese, etc.
Scapegoating, profiling and demonization is rife throughout this country’s history, and I believe this witch-hunt by King is no different.
