The Five on Christie’s ‘Ballsy Move’: He ‘Out-Talked’ Media, Has ‘Zero Wiggle Room’

Chris Christie held a big, long press conference Thursday on “Bridgegate,” and he very clearly denied personal involvement, though he did take responsibility for the actions carried out by people he trusted. On The Five, Eric Bolling called the presser a “ballsy move,” because what Christie did was leave himself “zero wiggle room,” meaning that if he ends up being connected to the scandal in any way, he’s a “dead man walking.”

He and the others praised Christie for his handling of this whole situation. Greg Gutfeld thought the press conference was “amazing” because Christie “out-talked the media” and made the convincing point that if he was really involved, he never would have publicly joked about how big a non-scandal this is.

Bob Beckel, however, wanted to know why Christie wasn’t looking into this from day one, considering how serious, because the George Washington Bridge is the busiest bridge in the country and for it to be plagued with so much traffic should have set off alarm bells.

Meanwhile, Gutfeld pointed out that President Obama was caught up in scandals involving the targeting of political opponents for petty reasons too but the media doesn’t care, while Bolling noted how Obama insisted, as Christie did, he had no prior knowledge of scandals before they hit the news.
