Two Reindeer Break Free From Trailer On Texas Highway, 911 Hilarity Ensues

Wednesday morning at about 8 a.m., police in Webster, Tex. (about 25 miles southeast of Houston) started getting calls about two reindeer that were loose on the side of the Gulf Freeway. Understandably skeptical 911 operators — hearing that reindeer were running loose 10 days before Christmas Eve — at first seemed a little hesitant to believe…until more calls began pouring in.

It turns out that two reindeer being transported to a church Christmas Fair broke free from their trailer. The owner of the company, the Lollipops and Licorice Petting Zoo, said that he locked — but accidentally didn’t close — the trailer door. Thankfully, everyone was fine. The reindeer were eventually re-captured, and drivers avoided them as the rescue effort was underway. “I’m glad the reindeer weren’t injured,” Officer Jeff Cargile told Kristi Nix of YHN. “They have many Christmas toys to deliver”.

This isn’t the first time a reindeer has gotten loose this holiday season. But it has been the funniest. Some of the 911 audio is incredible, including one exchange that highlighted just how stellar a story this is:

Caller: Okay, there’s a guy approaching them right now.

Operator: Older man with a beard?
