video

President Barack Obama had long planned to be in Falls Church, Virginia today, to thank say farewell to outgoing Joint Chief of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen, but his appearance went from a standard ceremonial one to that of a newsworthy foreign affairs moment. After welcoming other dignitaries in attendance, Obama opened with comments on the recent killing of U.S. born al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki.

Obama said “The death of al- Awlak is a major blow to al Qaeda’s most active operational affiliate,” before adding that he was “a was the leader of external operations for al Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula, before explaining his active role in plans to kill American citizens.”

This is a great day for America’s intelligence community and for the President.

  • Anonymous

Just another dead-ender whose dream of death at the hands of the infidels, and thus martyrdom in his mind, we’ve fulfilled.

What are we doing in the long run to choke off supply to the pool of potential recruits for these people?.. nothing, we’re filling the pool.. what happened to “smart power”

Be afraid. Be very afraid. It helps divide America.

  • Republicans are Liars

Wow Michelle, I guess you are the same person with the same views you had 20 years ago. That is called a person that doesn’t evolve, learn, grow. Sometimes people take a left turn like AA. But, we must remember, you have always been an idiot and will continue to be one. Thank you for your consistency.

  • Anonymous

Also some solace for the families who have lost loved ones and the brave soldiers still fighting the fight.

  • Anonymous

Why is Obama killing peaceful Muslims without even the benefit of a trial?

  • Anonymous

    LOL

She struck a nerve in ya , didn’t she libby!

    Ouch!

  • Anonymous

Oh, poor baby- did you get banned?

    LMAO

  • Anonymous

    Michelle,

Why can’t you wing nuts just be happy when we kill a terrorist?

That idiotic article adds exactly nothing to the dicussion except right-wing sour grapes over another success.

  • Anonymous

I don’t think this guy could possibly be described as “peaceful” – and I’m fairly certain you’re being a smart ass – but I must admit that I am incredibly uncomfortable with the notion of assassinating people without trials, especially American citizens.

  • Anonymous

Provide evidence that he was guilty of a terrorist act against America.

  • Michelle

    Yawn

  • Michelle

I am happy.  I’m not a hypocrite like you liberals who whine when we execute a cop killer but are cheering now.

  • john.kliber

The ninja assassin President; he should have notches in his belt or some kind of head scarf with a big Japanese symbol he wears on such occasions.

How often does a sitting President crow about the extra-territorial murder of a U.S. citizens? “Well, folks, he wasn’t just guilty – he was REAL guilty – so I ordered him killed. So what? What are ya goin’ to do ’bout it? I’m the President.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1431811538 Josh Kim

Instead of celebrating the demise of America’s enemies, you choose to be petty. Yep, classic Michelle.

  • NDanielson

The liberals were just celebrating this clown, now 0bama takes him out, and the liberals praise 0bama for it??? The man can do no wrong in their eyes.

    With the news
that an American air strike has killed the U.S.-born head of Al Quaeda
in Yemen, Anwar Al Awlaki, the media will explain his significance in
the terrorist organization, and his role in inspiring the Ft. Hood
shooter and the “underwear bomber.” What they probably won’t tell you is that they once celebrated Al Awlaki as a “moderate” and a bridge-builder “between Islam and the West.”

Awlaki once served as imam of the Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Northern
Virginia, the very same place that attracted many of the 9/11 hijackers
and, later, Major Nadal Hasan, the Ft. Hood shooter.

Yet before and, remarkably, after 9/11, the Washington Post, The New
York Times and the Baltimore Sun, along with NPR, fawned over Al Awlaki
as one of a “new generation of Muslim leader capable of merging East and
West,” in the Times’ words. In Nov. 2001, just two months after the
9/11 attacks, the Post did a video profile
of Al Awlaki and hosted him in an on-line Q & A session with
readers. “[T]he greatest sin in Islam after associating other gods
besides Allah is killing an innocent soul,” the bridge-builder told
    questioners.

Just a few years later, Al Awlaki was praising Nadal Hasan as “heroic,” saying “may God richly reward him.”

Al Awlaki turned out to be an exact opposite of the moderate he
professed to be, and clearly burned the credulous media. That’s
understandable. What’s not is that the media learned nothing from the
    experience.

Another name often mentioned in those old puff stories about so-called
moderate imams was Feisal Abdul Rauf – the Muslim cleric who caused a
storm of controversy in 2010 with his plan to build a mosque within two
blocks of Ground Zero in Manhattan.

I’m sure that Feisal Abdul Rauf is still a liberal hero though. Unless 0bama takes him out with a drone strike for some reason.

  • Michelle

Funny, you didn’t call out the people I was responding to, you just attack me.  Yep, classic Josh!

  • NDanielson

Most people meeting their fate after years of sitting on death row are America’s enemies, but you liberal clowns squeal like stuck pigs about that don’t you??? Yep pretty petty and classic Josh.

  • NDanielson

Why can’t you liberal leftnuts just be happy when we execute a brutal murderer on death row??? After all they were found guilty in a court of law, and sentenced by a jury of their peers! Sour grapes is the flavor of your kool-aid, clown.

  • Michelle

Oh Josh is a “Republican”.  He just only attacks fellow Repubs.

  • Pablo’s Ex Husband

Libya. Bin Laden. Al-Awlaki. Winding down the Bush wars. I sure wouldn’t want to be someone with ZERO foreign policy experience such as Willard or Tollbooth taking on Obama next year.

  • Anonymous

Wasn’t he the one who inspired the Nidal Hasan guy to go on a massacre at Fort Hood?  I mean, he was killed with the guy who ran al Qaeda’s Inspire magazine, and I’m fairly certain that he was the leader of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

All I said was that he wasn’t peaceful, not that he was necessarily guilty of anything.  But again, I am definitely uncomfortable with this – I wish he had been put on trial.

  • Michelle

Yes, terrorists deserve a trial, but the life of an innocent child can be snuffed out no problem.  More liberal logic.

  • Anonymous

MOST people are.  Inevitably, however, some are not.  And it is those, more than anything else, for whom we raise our voices.

  • Michelle

Um Barry only got those wins because he continued the Bush policies.  That’s the one thing he got right.

  • Anonymous

Please stop mischaracterizing and demagoguing the Troy Davis tragedy.

There is a reason that strident death penalty supporters – and Republicans, like former Rep. Bob Barr and former FBI Director William Sessions – were among those most loudly protesting his execution.

  • NDanielson

Are you running for office? You memorized and paraphrased the entire dem playbook. Republicans want dirty air and water, to take all women’s rights to her body away, to go back to Jim Crow, to pay women less, to deport illegal aliens and rip their families apart, to take SSI away from granny, to take away medicare, medicaid, to de-fund fire, police, and turn America into a religious police state. Yep, low voltage, you got it down. What else do you have to run on? How many years has it worked now? Be stupid. Be very stupid. It helps elect liberals.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1431811538 Josh Kim

There was enough doubt to exculpate Troy Davis, but the State of Georgia and bloodthirsty right-wingers such as yourselves would have none of it.

Please abstain from partaking of the sacrament.

oh…and most witnesses later changed their story.

  • caconservative

Mathew Pilbin is the name of the guy that wrote the article. Shouldn’t you be aiming your childish remarks his way?

  • Michelle

You need to read up on the story.  You don’t have it quite right.

  • caconservative

We killed a cop-killer and when people applauded that, the Left went nuts. Didn’t I hear people applauding this killing? Anyone who kills maliciously should be killed. Why was the scumbag cop-killer any different than this scumbag?

  • caconservative

He should have been captured and brought to New York were that other dim-wit, Eric Holder, could have spent millions of taxpayer money in a Court trial, to feed his ego.

  • Michelle

    Via Gallup:
Americans see the Republican Party as better able than
the Democratic Party to protect the country from terrorism and military
threats, and to keep the country prosperous over the next few years.
These views come as record numbers of Americans are dissatisfied with the way the nation is being governed and express highly negative opinions about a number of other dimensions of
the federal government. Next year’s elections provide Americans with an
opportunity to vent their frustrations in the presidential and the
congressional elections. At this point, Republicans, who currently
control the House but not the presidency or the Senate, appear to be at
least slightly better positioned going into the elections, given
Americans’ preference for the GOP to handle the nation’s domestic and
    international woes.
Democrats held the advantage over the Republican Party on the
“prosperous” dimension from 2003 through 2009, a period that included
the majority of George W. Bush’s presidency and the first year of Barack
Obama’s. The advantage switched to the GOP last year and remains so
this year, by 48% to 39%.

  • NDanielson

Change the system, lilly. Too many times the ones raising their voices impugn the system and the police. And that is petty and classic liberalism.

  • caconservative

When did “inspiration” become a crime? It must be accompanied by an overt  action. If there is factual evidence of an overt action, then he is a terrorist and does not qualify for a trial in a American civilian court.

  • NDanielson

Here you go lilly. Here is your clown that impugns the system, the police, an entire group of people, and the entire state of Georgia because he witnessed the crime firsthand, I guess. He was not there in the court room, he did not see the evidence, but relies on secondhand accounts of the trial, hearsay. He calls the jury, the prosecutor and anyone right of him murderers. Bloodthirsty.

And he whines that we do not celebrate the “demise of America’s enemies” when the judge, jury and executioner was Barry 0bama. Classic liberalism in your face.

  • Anonymous

    Have ever hear of sarcasm?

  • NDanielson

Wasn’t he the guy that the NYT, WaPo, NPR, et al called a bridge to “moderate” Muslims? You know, the ones that liberals love so much? Like Feisal Abdul Rauf? Wow who to believe, lilly? Those redneck Tea Partiers or those bastions of clean journalism and all things good for America, the liberal media?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Suck on a lemon sore loser.

  • Anonymous

I must say I agree with you. It sets a precedent. Other countrties may try to follow suit. Does anybody ever think this type of warefare can be also used on America?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

America won. You lost. Get over it.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

I have to take exception to what you’re writing about Michelle-in-Utah. She is consistently pro-life until the moment of crowning. Then, you can go to H-E-Double Hockey Sticks, perhaps with pain and suffering along the way. It makes her happy.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Nothing more pitiful than a sore loser.

  • NDanielson

Oh, so liberals are being sarcastic when they say those things??? Wow. Who knew? Most of your buddies that you agree with all the time don’t seem to know. Liberal voters don’t seem to know. Being stupid helps elect liberals. Now you know why they run the schools in this country. No you were quite accurate about dividing America. It’s all your team knows.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Actually, if you’re opposed to abortion, vote Democratic. The abortion rate always falls during Democratic administrations. Read up on it. Sore loser.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

But, W didn’t get them. President Obama did. Sore loser.

In order to vote for Dem’s, I’d have to abandon every principle I have and start to believe I need the gov’t to take care of me.  I’d have to believe babies deserve to die and killers deserve to be sympathized with.  I’d have to believe that America is the cause of the world’s ills and should apologize for our greatness.  I’m not willing to do that.

Raised Republican, I can take care of myself!

The president is an effective leader as he ordered and authorized the taking out of Osama Bin Ladin, Atiyah abd al-Rahman and Anwar al-Awlaki and Moammar Khaddafy on the run! There have been two or three other high targets taken out in the past! This is effective leadership as he never took his eyes of the target for thirty-two months! Baby boy Bush was in office eight years and didn’t accomplish what president Obama has done in just thirty-two months! President Obama has presided over the passage of the Sarbanes Oxley act of 2002 and the Frank Dodd Act because these two acts provide guidelines and  restrictions put into place resulting from the recession of 2007 and 2008! There were major corporate and accounting scandals like Enron and Worldcom which cost investors billions. The Frank Dodd Act provided a sweeping overhaul of America’s financial regulatory system to consolidate agencies, regulate financial markets, implement consumer protection, provide financial crisis tools for the FDIC and improving accounting processes and tightening credit rating regulations. Now the Troubled Economic Antagonist(TEA) party want to undo previously passed and signed legislation that reigned in the excesses of the past! Call your Senator and Representative and tell them ”Do not water down these Acts!”

I remember a few years ago some on the left were up in arms about the prospect of killing an American without “due process”; this was especially discussed while George Bush was the president.

Where’s the ACLU; where’s Code Pink and other liberal groups and pundits on this lack of “justice.”

As for me, I’m glad the man is now looking for those 73 “ladies” of the evening!  I’m sure there’s a good chance he’s is a very ”hot” (‘hot,’ in a different context) place….

Pro assassination and death penalty w/out a trial? Good 2 know. ;)

    Just which court stated that?

    Why is Obama against Islam?

Couldn’t find much on Code Pink, but the ACLU has been quite consistent.

Wait, I thought we knew that Obama hated Amerka because he DIDN’T continue the Bush administration policies?

  • Anonymous

Hmmm….let me see, non citizen, enemy combatants are treated better than most poor people in ghettos all over America.  President Obama wants them brought to the United States, grant them citizen rights in our federal courts, but, he sends a couple of drones to kill two American citizens who happen to be Muslims.  How’s that work for those who support him?  Talk about two faces!!!

  • Anonymous

BTW, I encourage all of you here to tell all of the celebrities and billionaires like Geffen, Petersen, Buffet, Gates, Kaiser plus actors like  Longoria, Gwenyth, Penn…anyway you get my drift to  immediately put 90% of all their liquid funds into the Treasury of America and 75% of the value of their “non” liquid assets too!  After all, who needs tens of millions per year to live on.  They need to put up or shut the hell up!  These superficially challenged morons should need no force to cough up the extras they have…who needs 10,000-40,000 square feet of living space and limousines and other fancy cars and clothes.  Talk about two faced!!
