Bill Maher Trolls Anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ Protest ‘National Day Of Defiance’
Comic and political pundit Bill Maher trolled Democrats over the “No Kings” protest against President Donald Trump and the movement’s “Nationwide Day of Defiance” as being a day late and a dollar short.
On Friday night’s edition of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, the interview guest was Sen. John Fetterman, Democratic senator from Pennsylvania.
The panel guests were Ian Bremmer, president and founder of the Eurasia Group and GZERO Media; and Rutger Bregman, Dutch historian and author of “Moral Ambition: Stop Wasting Your Talent and Start Making a Difference.”
But first, Maher devoted a portion of his opening monologue to Trump’s military parade scheduled on Saturday to ostensibly celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army — which also coincides with Trump’s 79th birthday.
While he spoke out against the parade, Maher couldn’t resist hitting the “No Kings” protests with a backswing, noting that a “Nationwide Day of Voting” in November would’ve been more effective:
BILL MAHER: Well, I tell you… Trump is having his big parade tomorrow. You know this, right? I’m going to be glued to the TV!
I don’t think this is a good idea to have tanks in the street. That’s what we’re doing.
So, of course, a lot of people don’t like this. 2,000 cities are having an uprising. We’ll see if it’s an uprising, but a demonstration called No Kings, because he is acting a little king-like. It’s called…
Tomorrow is called “No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance.”.
Real catchy. I’d say if only liberals had brought this level of enthusiasm to Nationwide Day of Voting.
So is after. And, finally, this… I got to say, this did look a little king-y. Trump unveiled this week… Oh, I love this. This man. A Trump card. Of course, it’s gold. (LAUGHTER) For foreign nationals can purchase for $5 million to become a citizen.
Yes, we’re so against any foreign national getting into this country or sending the fucking Marines, but you know what? We’re not animals. We can be bought.
