Trump Eggs On Karoline Leavitt to Trash CBS’s Margaret Brennan: ‘She’s Stupid. You Can Put That On the Record.’
President Donald Trump teed up press secretary Karoline Leavitt to trash CBS’s Margaret Brennan during a recent Daily Caller interview.
The outlet on Monday released the full transcript of its hour-long interview between Trump and White House correspondent Reagan Reese. At one point in the interview, Trump was the one asking questions about the inner workings of The Daily Caller.
From there, the president pivoted to airing his grievances with the CBS News program Face the Nation. Joined by Leavitt, Trump even asked her how she felt about Brennan, the host of Face the Nation:
REESE: It’s been a really successful eight months, you know, over the last, the last eight months, but the last, the three years that I’ve been there, we just have continued to grow and grow, which has been really fun to experience.
TRUMP: People don’t realize how big our market is. You know? It’s like if they had Nora O’Donnell, anybody could do this. You could take 50% of the women off the street, they’d do just as good. Pay her 12 million a year, and she’s not going to be there very long. But if she’s not already out, I mean, she’s pretty close, I would say she’s pretty close, but, the other ones too. The ‘Face the Nation.’ The woman on the ‘Face the Nation‘ is so bad.
REESE: Kristen Welker, right?
TRUMP: Well, now Kristen Welker is NBC.
REESE: You know better than I do.
TRUMP: Kristen Welker is NBC. She’s, you know.
LEAVITT: Margaret Brennan [Leavitt refers to the host of ‘Face the Nation.’]
REESE: Margaret Brennan, right.
TRUMP: Margaret Brennan. What do you think of her?
LEAVITT: She’s stupid. You can put that on the record.
TRUMP: She’s nasty.
LEAVITT: Yes.
Since the start of Trump’s second term, Brennan has conducted a number of confrontational interviews with members of the president’s cabinet.
She most recently hosted Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who claimed Brennan was pushing a “stupid media narrative” when she suggested Ukraine would be “bullied” into a deal with Russia to stop the war.
