Trump’s DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Accuses Mexico’s President of Inciting LA Protests From Oval Office: ‘I Condemn Her’
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem did not hold back as she accused Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum of inciting the violent protests that are gripping Los Angeles.
Speaking from the Oval Office with President Donald Trump Tuesday, Noem said she “condemns” Sheinbaum for stoking the protests that have battered several blocks in the City of Angels.
“Claudia Sheinbaum came out and encouraged more protests in LA, and I condemn her for that,” Noem said. “She should not be encouraging violent protests that are going on.”
Noem’s remarks came two days after Sheinbaum spoke highly of Mexicans settled in LA.
“They are not criminals,” she said. “Los Angeles wouldn’t be what it is if it weren’t for the Mexicans who live there.”
On Monday, Sheinbaum spoke out against the violence.
“We do not agree with violent actions as a form of protest,” she said. “Burning police cars appears to be more an act of provocation than of resistance. “We condemn violence, no matter where it comes from.”
During the same Oval Office summit, Trump maintained he would use “very big force” to stomp whatever protests may be brewing ahead of his June 14 Flag Day/birthday military parade in Washington, D.C.
