Chuck Todd Confronts Carson: ‘Why Do You So Easily Go to Nazi Metaphors?’

Chuck Todd confronted Ben Carson today about his repeated use of Nazi comparisons in an interview where Carson ended up comparing abortion to slavery.

Todd didn’t beat around the bush; he directly asked Carson, “Why do you so easily go to Nazi metaphors?” Carson claimed that he’s heard from plenty of Jewish people who have applauded him for those statements and blamed the media for “trying to make this into a big horrible thing.”

And specifically regarding Carson’s comments about the Holocaust and gun control, the Republican candidate explained he’s just talking about “societies before tyranny was able to take root.”

And just a few minutes later, when Todd asked Carson about his views on abortion, Carson likened it to slavery:

“During slavery, a lot of the slaveowners thought they had the right to do whatever they wanted to that slave, anything that they chose to do. And, you know, what if the abolitionists had said, ‘I don’t believe in slavery, it’s wrong, but you guys do whatever you want to do.'”
