Geraldo Rivera Defends Fox News on The View, Blasts Rival Networks For Stormy Daniels Coverage

Fox News commentator Geraldo Rivera defended President Donald Trump on Friday’s episode of The View, saying he has “tremendous respect, even love” for the commander in chief while simultaneously deriding news outlets for their negative coverage of his White House.

The television personality lamented over the level of coverage a rumored affair Trump had with porn star Stormy Daniels had received in recent weeks, saying outlets like 60 Minutes and CNN “hyped it as if it was the nuclear code.”

“For them to give this much attention to a person whose story when it comes down to it is she had a one-nighter with a man that is a broadcast reality show billionaire real estate tycoon, she had a one-nighter in the bungalow of the Beverly Hills Hotel,” he said.

The hosts of the show reminded Rivera two things: There are pressing questions over whether or not the president or his aides broke campaign finance laws by paying hush money to the tune of $130,000 to Daniels or other women who claim to have had affairs with Trump. Also, former President Bill Clinton was also entrenched with 24-hour news coverage surrounding his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

“I refuse to concede the point,” Rivera said. “My point is that this president gets the worst press of any president, at least since Richard Nixon.”

While on The View, Rivera also defended his network against allegations that it’s a propaganda machine for Trump and GOP interests. “They have me on with my progressive ideas, pro gun control, pro choice, pro immigration reform,” he said. “The fact that they have me I think belies the notion that Fox News is propaganda.”
