‘Hate Can Have No Safe Harbor in America’: Biden Condemns Anti-Asian Violence in Atlanta After Shootings

President Joe Biden spoke in Atlanta Friday on the concerning rise in anti-Asian hate crimes following the shootings at three spas.

“Eight people killed, seven women, six were of Asian descent, all fellow Americans. Each one of them we mourn,” Biden said.

“Whatever the motivation, we know this,” he continued, “too many Asian-Americans have been walking up and down the streets and worrying, waking up each morning the past year failing their safety and the safety of their loved ones are at stake. They’ve been attacked, blamed, scapegoated, and harassed. They’ve been verbally assaulted, physically assaulted, killed.”

Biden told Americans that “silence is complicity” and “we cannot be complicit.”

“Hate can have no safe harbor in America. It must stop.”
