House Democrats at Gun Control Sit-In Literally Applaud the Media

During the House Democrats’ gun control sit-in tonight, they took a moment to literally applaud the media for its coverage of their protest.

Congressman Jim Clyburn said, “Let me begin my remarks by thanking the media.” Then the chamber was filled with applause.

The C-SPAN cameras were shut off earlier today, but the sit-in kept going, and one Democrat has been Periscoping the entire sit-in. C-SPAN has been broadcasting the Periscope since the cameras are off.

Clyburn said today shows the reason why America need a free press, so that the American people can see what’s happening in their own Congress.

It’s not clear yet when the House will get back in session, but the Democrats are getting ready to just stay overnight.
