John Edwards Gossip Watch: Andrew Young’s Cable News Carousel

Andrew Young is on a full media push to promote his new John Edwards tell-all book, The Politician. Depending on where he ended up on the dial, he got to reveal some reveal some salacious and unique details of his relationship with the one-time Presidential candidate.

Here’s a look at three Young cable news interviews yesterday.

• HLN – The Joy Behar Show: In what was likely the lightest interview Young will do on the cabler circuit, Behar has…a way with words.

She tried to figure out why Rielle Hunter left her sex tape:

Behar: I think it’s weird that she left it. From a Freudian point of view, why would she leave that? Why wouldn’t she destroy that tape?
Young: I think it goes beyond bizarre…When she moved out of there to a rental house we got for her, she left the sex tape and these Webisodes.

And this is a question you won’t hear asked in any other interview:

Behar: She confided in you about so many details, even about the condition of her vagina. I mean, that is so strange, what was up with that? And what is the condition of her vagina? Now that you know!
Young: I’m proud to say I have…I would always say TMI, TMI, too much information!

• Fox News – Hannity with Sean Hannity: Young had already appeared in a lengthy radio interview with Hannity (which the FNC host teased on his Twitter feed) but the TV interviews allowed for Young to talk to FNC’s wide audience.

Hannity’s ears perked up at the mention of this guy:

Young: He has me get in the car with him. He’s acting bizarre, he’s acting drunk. He’s talking on the cell phone, he’s looking in the rear view mirrors. All I could think of was Vince Foster. ‘Cause we were caught between some billionaires and some very powerful people and a guy who was in viable contention for VP or Attorney General. And nobody knew where I was. I was scared to death of him.

And here’s some breaking news:

Hannity: When did he stop seeing Hunter? Or has he.
Young: I don’t…I don’t think he has.

• MSNBC – Hardball with Chris Matthews: This was a tougher interview for Young – Matthews seemed to relish in the characterization of Young, the Rat.

But first, Young got to piss off the tea party movement and the South:

Young: All of us down in North Carolina are not holding tea parties and burning crosses. They’re not all a bunch of rural bumpkins. John Edwards was very successful, and he rose to the top because he was very charismatic, a very hard worker. Within nine years he was three times a viable VP pick, two times a viable Presidential pick.
Matthews: Yeah, so you’re building him up again.

And that whole ratting him out thing:

Young: I would like to say I was loyal to him up until…
Matthews: But how long did you stay with him after you stopped being loyal to him?
Young: Probably a year.
Matthews: So basically a year you were working for a guy, who thought you were loyal to him, but you weren’t.
